This one is for all the current and past students at OU-HCOM who I’ve had the honor of serving over the past 4 years. Thank you for believing in me and giving me the mantle of leadership to lead and advocate on your behalf. Serving you locally and nationally was my most memorable time at the Heritage College- quite literally.
Thank you to all the student leaders that I had the privilege of working with. We had some big wins and most importantly we strived to ensure that every voice was heard and that we could implement actionable changes. Speaking at the graduation ceremony was such a humbling experience and was my last official duty. Thank you for giving me that platform colleagues. I hope to continue to grow and leverage the relationships/friendships I found at the Heritage College.

Nick Borkey, an HCOM Cleveland medical student, is spreading his love for osteopathic manipulative treatment for NOM week by teaching others in his community! Nick says what he loves most about osteopathic techniques is that “they typically require only three things in order to treat the patient; one's hands to perform the techniques, one's head to keep the training in mind, and one's heart to hold true compassion." You DO you, Nick!

The Ohio Osteopathic Association last month, joined the efforts of the Medical Association Coalition to end the stigma of mental health, and increase access to truly confidential programs (i.e., programs that do not record a physician for receiving a diagnosis of a mental health illness, for simply seeking medical care) to physicians who need it. Monitoring of physicians should be based on the conduct of existing mental health conditions, and not a diagnosis.
