Spent Wednesday in San Diego with some great kids! This was the first college tour for almost all of them and they all came home with a different perspective about the college selection process. They realize that it's a lot like buying a house...they're going to have to look at several before they know they've found "the one." Several of them came in with some preconceived ideas about one of the schools...and decided it really wasn't the one for them! Imagine if they never visited the school and applied there...an important process!

Everyone wants to get an A! But did you know that college admissions officers would rather see a B in a challenging course instead of an A in an easy one! Don't sweat that B you got in Honors Biology...you challenged yourself and did well. Take the most difficult courses you can personally manage without losing your sanity, sleep, and maintaing your sports or activities.

The first college tour of the summer! Wednesday, June 27, FYI is hosting a trip to San Diego to visit UC San Diego and SDSU. Space is limited to 40 students, so be sure to email to reserve a spot and get the paperwork. [email protected]

College bound students should visit as many schools as they can...even if they aren't interested in the school. It allows them to confirm the reasons they like the schools they do, and gives them an opportunity to consider schools they might have crossed off their list. FYI's first college tour of summer will be announced by tomorrow!

I'm back! After a couple of years in hibernation, FYI will be providing students support on their journey to college again! Scheduled for the summer...SAT Prep Workshops, college tours! Tell your high school friends and family. Specific dates will be announced later this week.
