I want to sincerely thank everyone who participated in my Educator and Parent/Caregiver surveys for my presentation at the Autism Summit yesterday at Ohio Christian University. I truly appreciated the opportunity to share your insights along with the perspectives of members of the autism community that I interviewed. Your voices helped shape an important conversation about supporting autistic individuals and emotional regulation.

I am now moving on to my next project: the Southern Ohio Autism Access Survey.

Project Purpose

The Southern Ohio Autism Access Survey is a community-based needs assessment designed to gather parent-reported data on autism diagnosis timelines, wait times for services, distance to providers, and barriers to accessing care in Southern Ohio.

This project aims to create a clear, data-driven picture of the challenges families face across regional counties — particularly those with limited provider availability, long waitlists, and rural healthcare gaps.

The goal is to help inform schools, county boards, healthcare organizations, policymakers, and Medicaid partners about the unique needs of autistic children in Southern Ohio and support efforts to improve access to services.

This project is not a research study for publication. It is a quality improvement and community assessment effort focused on understanding regional needs.

Geographic Scope

The survey targets families living in Southern Ohio, including the following counties:

Ross
Pike
Jackson
Vinton
Pickaway
Scioto
Fayette
Highland
Athens
Hocking
Meigs
Lawrence
Adams
Brown

This region includes many rural and Appalachian counties that often experience provider shortages, long waitlists, and significant travel distances for autism-related care.

If you are a parent or caregiver of a child with autism living in Southern Ohio, your participation in this survey would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to share your experiences. Please feel free to share this survey with other families in Southern Ohio so we can better understand the needs of our community.

Hello! My name is Rylee Bouillion. I am a Clinical Director, Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), and Intervention Specialist working across clinic and school settings in Pickaway and Ross Counties.

I’m preparing for a local presentation focused on emotional regulation in children with autism, and I want to make sure this conversation is guided by the voices of the people who live it every day.

Much of my work centers on supporting autistic children and the adults who support them, and emotional regulation is a topic that comes up often across families, classrooms, and support teams.

If you are a parent or caregiver of a child with autism, or an educator or professional who supports autistic students, I would really value your input.

I’ve created two short, anonymous surveys to better understand common questions, concerns, and support needs related to emotional regulation across home and school settings.

Participation is completely optional and anonymous. These surveys are for education and community input only and are not connected to any individual child, clinic, or school.
