Day 4 Session2!
That’s a wrap for Art Camp. Today these students made their sketchbooks, and added details to their otter paintings. Now to wait for their ceramic pieces to be fired.

We’ve had a blast the last 4 days. This group of students were so creative, kind, and helpful to each other. They always had positive things to say about each others work, and I’ve enjoyed my afternoons with them. I hope they have a fun filled, creative summer.

Day 4 session 1
Today was the last day for Art Camp. Students put together their sketchbooks, glazed their envelopes, and added details to their otter paintings. Now we’re just waiting for their ceramic pieces to get fired (hopefully next week 🤞🏻
These past 4 mornings have been wonderful. Time really did fly by for me, and it is bitter sweet that we’re now officially on summer break.

Art Camp day 2!
Today students designed their own Pop Tart characters, and then made them using Model Magic air dry clay.
They also started their sketchbooks, and got their otters drawn on canvases. They are ready to paint tomorrow.

As an introduction to clay, kindergarten students practiced making spheres and roiling coils with Model Magic. Then they used markers to mix in colors and make dots. These dots were combined together to make canvases for our principals. The end results were beautiful!

As I’m getting ready for this year’s Art Camp fundraiser, I wanted to share where the money goes. Money we raise stays right in the art room, helping to buy supplies for 5th grade Art Club. It gives students a free opportunity to dive a little deeper into materials, and create larger and more complex projects.
In March members were challenged to design a ceramic insect. Each student started with an oval slump mold, and they built their creations off of the form.
Just look at what they made!!!! These insects are amazing!! (And I didn’t get to photograph them all) I’m going to miss these students next year, and I hope they continue to use their creative gifts.

Just some of the amazing self portraits that second grade created this semester.
They looked at the work of artist Kehinde Wiley, and were inspired to create their own realistic portraits. After adding shading, they choose a wallpaper background for texture and pattern to mimic Wiley’s detailed backgrounds.
