Turns out “I don't know” might be the most powerful thing a VP can say.

At least, that's what I learned when I was up for VP Account Director in my previous ad agency role -- my biggest promotion yet -- and my own team told me I didn't know what I was talking about.

Plot twist: that’s actually what helped me get the job.

When you're honest about what you don't know, people trust what you do know.

If you're stepping into something new like a job, a team, or a relationship, here's what I want you to remember:

✨You don't have to show up polished. Just show up real.
✨Curiosity is more valuable than having all the answers.
✨Authenticity isn't a soft skill. It's the whole game.
✨The people worth impressing will respect your honesty far more than your performance.

And for the leaders reading this, I want you to know that vulnerability is a leadership strategy. A company or team that is clear on its values gives people a reason to stay. When your people know they have the freedom to fail, they'll take the risks that actually move things forward.

So here's my challenge to you: How could showing up as your real self open new doors for you? Let me know in the comments, and share this with someone who's about to step into something new!

The goalpost keeps moving because you were never taught to enjoy the field.

I'll be happy when I get the promotion.
I'll be happy when I lose weight.
I'll be happy when the relationship is right.

We say it so casually, but what we're really doing is putting our permission to feel good on layaway. And the price keeps going up.

I know this because I lived it. From building a career that I wanted to getting divorced, to never-ending doctors visits and IVF, I was always just one milestone away from finally letting myself exhale.

The thing is, the exhale never came from arriving. It came from deciding.
You have to make the decision to have a life that feels good while you're living it. Not just when you tick every box. But each and every day through the rituals, rhythms, relationships, and actions that are fully yours.

❇️Hot tip: This is what I teach in my Energy-Driven Success method. Optimizing your energy so that happiness happens now, not some day.❇️

If this message hits close to home, let's talk about it. We’ll make sure the "I'll be happy when…" ends the moment you decide it does.

If you're stressed at the gym, distracted at dinner, and drained by Sunday night, maybe your to-do list isn't the problem.

I've been there too, and so have most of the high-achieving people I work with. They're getting things done, fitting in workouts, answering emails, and powering through errands. From the outside, everything looks fine. But on the inside, they're running on fumes and frustrated through every moment of it.

The thing you keep pushing away may be the very thing asking for your attention, not to punish you, but to free your energy.

The truth is that overwhelm isn't always caused by WHAT’S on your plate, but by how you're thinking about what's on your plate. That distinction may sound small, but it actually makes ALL the difference!

I recently worked with a client who was convinced she was stuck. Her job felt like a trap with too much work, no bandwidth, and no way out. When we really explored it together, we found that she wasn't stuck because of her circumstances. She was stuck because she had stopped believing she had a choice. The moment she realized that staying or leaving were both valid options she could actively choose between, the weight started to lift.

That's the work. And here's how it can shift for you, too:

Step 1: Be in the present
Step 2: Reframe your perspective
Step 3: Embrace choice

Mental toughness got you here. But mental agility is what keeps you from burning out once you arrive!

If you've been powering through and wondering why it still feels like so much, this one's for you. Find more tips on overcoming overwhelm via https://innerbrilliancecoaching.com/go-from-overwhelmed-to-empowered/.

Hot take: Stop saying sorry.

We've been conditioned to apologize for existing. For taking up space, for needing a moment, for simply being human.

"Sorry for the late reply."
"Sorry, can I ask a question?"
"Sorry, I just need a second."

But here's what we don't talk about enough - when you say sorry reflexively, you're actually devaluing the moments when it should mean everything… and you are actually devaluing yourself in the process, as well!

A real apology is one of the most powerful things you can offer someone. It acknowledges impact. It takes ownership. It says I see you, and I see what I did.

But, that power gets diluted every time we throw a sorry into a sentence the way we say "um."

Instead, try these phrases to express yourself without devaluing the sentiment:

"Thank you for your patience." → honor them without shrinking you.
"I appreciate you waiting on me." → gracious and grounded.
"That took longer than I wanted it to." → honest, with no apology needed.

Language is one of the most underrated tools we have for how we move through the world and through our relationships. When you stop apologizing for things that don't require an apology, you start showing up with more presence, more confidence, and more credibility.

Share this message with someone who needs to break free from the pressure of apologizing! 💛

Your body has been trying to tell you something. Are you actually listening?

Trust me, I have been there! At 29, newly divorced and hitting a wall, I had a moment that changed everything: I realized I was responsible for my own happiness and energy. And I had been spending it all wrong.

I looked at my Italian relatives, some of them living vibrantly into their mid-to-late 90s. I thought about how they never called it “wellness.” They just lived it.

They walked.
They ate real food.
They rested without guilt.

That became my compass for a life full of pleasure and meaning.

Here's what I learned the hard way about real recovery vs. fake dopamine hits:

➡️Reading vs. vegging out: A real book slows your nervous system and builds something. Passive scrolling borrows from tomorrow's energy account.

➡️Walking vs. scrolling on the couch: Twenty minutes outside shifts your cortisol, clears your head, and reconnects you to your body in a way no amount of Netflix ever will.

➡️Protein + produce vs. an energy drink: One speaks your body's native language. The other is a loan with a brutal interest rate.

➡️Eating clean or Mediterranean vs. a juice cleanse: My family never detoxed. They just ate food that came from the earth, and they had energy I'm still pursuing. That's the model.

It took me ten years of trial and error -- and eventually finding the right help -- to fully understand that real recovery feels quieter, slower, and far less exciting than a quick fix.

But it's also why I had more energy in my 30s, 40s, and now 50s than I ever did in my 20s.

This is what inspired me to create my programs based on my “Energy-Driven Success Method.” It’s a different path to success, one that’s led by your ENERGY, not exhausting effort.

I provide my clients this transformational framework that takes you from alignment to embodiment, so you can create success that’s not only sustainable, but soul-satisfying.

The loudest voice in the room is often the one in your own head.

This May, for National Mental Health Awareness Month, I want to talk about something I see come up again and again with my clients: the way negative self-talk impacts happiness.

Negative self-talk has a way of convincing us we're not ready, not enough and not worthy. Often, before we've even tried. Not because we lack talent or potential, but because we think we need certainty in order to feel confident.

But here's something you may not know… confidence, at its core, simply means *with trust.* So, what if you could trust yourself?

And, I have a provocative view on trust. I encourage you to trust that you'll be okay no matter what, that you can figure it out, and that you are worthy of good things!

If you’re struggling with that confidence or trust, maybe you have to go a little deeper to see what you really need. Is it more confidence, self-esteem, or self-worth? They are all connected, yet distinct! And when you understand which one needs a little more love right now, you can take one intentional step toward it.

That one step is where everything changes. You don't need to have it all figured out, you just need to trust yourself.

Understanding what confidence actually is might be one of the most powerful things you do for your mental health this month. Learn more when you read my blog: https://innerbrilliancecoaching.com/do-you-really-need-more-confidence/.

The detours weren't detours. They were an important part of the destination.

People ask me all the time: "Aren't you upset you spent so many years in marketing and advertising before becoming a coach?"

Not even a little.

Because those years gave me everything. I learned how to manage teams of people with varying personalities which helped me coordinate a web developer, a branding coach, and a VA to build my own business. I learned how to spot strengths in my ad team and pull them forward before I ever had a coaching client. I learned that playfulness and fun with clients and teammates outperform task lists every single time, something my coaching clients now experience firsthand.

And I learned how to actually run a business (P&L reports, revenue forecasts, the books, marketing, all of it). Plus I had a front row seat to how the biggest brands in the world functioned: McDonald's, Unilever, Anheuser-Busch. I was paying attention.

Every stop on that road built the person standing here now.

So no, you're not wasting time on your journey. Swipe to see what it's really giving you. 👉

Ready to change your life? Just. Start.

I get it. I have procrastinated taking action on the big things -- and small things -- too.

Like marketing my business. Something as simple as writing a newsletter used to feel overwhelming until I reframed the way I thought of it. It used to give me the ick, it felt too self-promoting but the deeper meaning was that I needed to reach people to coach them and change their lives. Nothing “icky” about that!

That avoidance cost me more energy than writing the newsletter ever would. I mean, procrastination is hard work.

Here are the 3 steps I tell my high-achieving clients about overcoming procrastination and avoidance:

1. Take a tiny step.

Not the whole staircase. One stair. The teeniest tiniest step. Write one paragraph? Write one line? No, read someone else’s newsletter for inspiration.

2. Connect to your deeper WHY.

I wasn't avoiding writing or marketing because I was lazy. I was protecting myself from judgment. On a deeper level, something didn’t feel aligned. When I understood that, I could work with my deep rooted desires, instead of against them.

My deeper reason why was to share nuggets of helpful information and to support people on their journey to experience a life they love.

3. Make it fun.

Find a way to inject lightness, play, or even a little humor into the thing you're dreading. For this particular task, I used to make or get my favorite foamy latte.

I call this approach "Rosie-ing it," my personal approach to taking something hard and finding the angle that makes it feel a little less heavy and a lot more doable.

Because if you can find a way to smile while doing the hard thing, you're way more likely to actually do it.

Avoidance is never really about the task. It's about what you've decided the task means.

If you're circling something you can't seem to start -- like a career move, a hard conversation, or a life that actually fits you -- let's get into it together. I offer complimentary consultations for exactly this reason.

Perfection didn't build my career. But learning what to let go did.

Here's what nobody tells you about high achievers: the same drive that got you to the top can quietly become the thing that wears you down. You've built your identity around doing everything right, and when something goes sideways, your inner critic shows up LOUD.

I still remember the moment I realized something in me had genuinely shifted. I was hosting my “Thriving without Burnout” 3-day retreat, an event I had poured everything into, and without warning, I lost connection mid-session.
Twenty minutes, gone. In front of everyone.

The old version of me would have spiraled. Instead, I went into solution mode. I stayed calm, and ended up having one of the best retreats EVER!.

That's not confidence that came from nothing going wrong. It came from learning -- the hard way -- that a hiccup doesn’t have to become a headline.

That if you trust yourself and the process, you’ll channel your energy into what matters most and has the greatest impact. This is what I call healthy striving perfectionism. And, it doesn’t happen overnight.

If your standards have always been your superpower, it's time to make them work FOR you instead of against you.

My career in advertising taught me how to sell like a pro. But, I still needed to learn how to stop selling myself short.

It took going back to my roots (literally, my Sicilian roots) to figure out what was missing.

I spent 18 years in corporate advertising: fast-paced, high-stakes, results-driven. I know what it looks like to perform well on the outside while running on empty on the inside.

Grinding through days that drain us.
Optimizing for output.
Surviving the week just to do it again.

But I also grew up Sicilian. And in this culture success goes beyond work, it includes family, food, pleasure, rest and beyond. Wellness isn't a retreat you book when you're burned out. It's the foundation you build everything else on.

That's the philosophy I bring to career coaching.

Yes, we talk about strategy, pivots, positioning, and purpose. But we also talk about energy, what's depleting yours, what's lighting you up, and what it would feel like to actually look forward to Mondays again.

Because a career move that doesn't factor in your whole self isn't a solution. It's just a new setting for the same problem.

If you're ready to stop tweaking your résumé and start reclaiming your spark, I'd love to meet you there.

You can't communicate a boundary you haven't defined for yourself yet.

That's the piece most people skip. They jump straight to the conversation - with their partner, their boss, their friend - without first getting quiet enough to ask: What do I actually need here?

Setting a loving boundary isn't just about the other person. It starts with you. Getting radically honest with yourself about what you want, what you'll accept, and what no longer works.

When you get clear on the inside, the conversation on the outside becomes so much easier.

You're not reacting.
You're not guessing.
You're speaking from a place of knowing.

That clarity is the boundary. The conversation is just sharing it.

What's one area in your life where you've been trying to set a boundary without first getting clear on what you actually want? I promise you are not alone.

If you're tired of having the same boundary conversations with nothing changing, let's work on the root together. Book a complimentary consultation today at https://innerbrilliancecoaching.com/connect/.
