Hey There Friends . . .

A long time ago I enlisted my services as a professional speaker, and I started publishing posts under my company name -- "Ed Hearn International."

After doing so, I was blessed to win a Toastmasters World Championship of Public Speaking, and to indeed address audiences all around the globe!!

But since that time, I ran into a whirlwind of challenges!! And due to illness, hospitizations, divorce, and numerous physical setbacks, I just threw up my hands and quit!!

But folks, as my Momma would say, "I done cried my last tear!!! And the Lord done gave me my strength back!!" So, I can see clearly now that the rain has gone!!

So then, I'm writing this post and saying like Michael Jordan when he returned to the Chicago Bulls --- "I'm baaack!!" And folks, I'M NOT AFRAID TO START ALL OVER AGAIN!!! 🤗

America has just witnessed one of the most divisive political elections in the history of our nation. And as we now approach the end of the year, it's time for all of us to face one simple truth -- A HOUSE DIVIDED AGAINST ITSELF CANNOT STAND!!

It is in this spirit that I am personally committed to working with those who are ready and willing to UTILIZE THEIR VOICES to help bring healing, wholeness and hope to our nation and our world.

Nearly all of my life I have been blessed with a seemingly natural ability to speak. As a result, I have rarely been nervous about standing in front of an assembled audience of people and sharing my thoughts and feelings.

However, I had to reach adulthood before I truly became aware of the awesome POWER that is conveyed whenever a speech is given. Shucks, until I began to compete in numerous speech contests, I just assumed that public speaking was something as easy as falling out of bed!!

But friends, excellence in speaking is both an established ART and a developed SKILL; and if it is developed properly, it can be transformed into a very lucrative full-time profession.

That's precisely why I have returned to this page (after a lengthy absence) to develop both myself and other aspiring speakers to venture out into the world of professional speaking!!

You see, you must never underestimate the awesome POWER of your thoughts and words. When properly spoken, just a few words can positively or negatively impact another person's entire life. In fact, they can live in their hearts and minds FOREVER!!

Hey There Friends:

The Toastmasters International World Championship of Public Speaking is fast approaching. In fact, many Area Contests are already underway. And I have also been notified that a number of other speech championship competitions in other well known organizations are also about to begin.

One of my New Year's resolutions was to assist more speakers who desire to step up to the plate and establish their skills on a championship level. And guess what? NOW is the time to make good on my commitment!!!

For this reason, I will be posting a series of posts, videos, and informational writings on this page that I believe will give you a competitive edge as you strive to win a championship. I am also working with Pres Vasilev, a young man whom I was blessed to help train for the Toastmasters International Championship in 2011, and we will be coming to the stage, LIVE & IN PERSON, in the city of Chicago, in April. So, I want to encourage each of you to make plans to be with us, as soon as that date is announced within the next 7 days.

Finally, it is my prayer that I can help someone win a World Title, or some other prestigious Speech Championship, based upon the information I am willing to share, because I am thoroughly convinced that great speakers and great leaders can significantly change, not only our cities and our nation, but our entire world!!

The time for the 2018 World Championship of Public Speaking is fast approaching, and because I won that title in 2006, I have already been approached by a number of people who have requested my input and assistance. I have also had several people who have inquired as to how I might help them in the upcoming year as they prepare to present a number of speeches and presentations on their job.

In my quest to help as many people as I possibly can, I am developing a number of informative & motivational videos that I feel will help anyone who desires to take their speaking to the very highest level possible!!

The instructional series I am developing is entitled, "The Quest To Be The Best!!" It is filled with coaching insights, speech & presentation tips, and a host of other information that I truly believe will help anyone who desires to speak like a trained champion!!

Since 2006, when I was blessed to win the Toastmasters World Championship of Public Speaking, I have been approached by numerous people who have asked me to help train & develop them to do the same thing. But for the past eleven years I have convinced myself that I am NOT a certified speech coach. So I have only seriously helped two of my friends to compete.

But guess what? One of those friends made it to the International Semi-finals before he was defeated, and the other made it to the Finals Competition, and won First Place!! So the First Place winner recently said to me, "Ed, you might THINK you're not a good coach, but you are, my friend!! So why don't you help others in their quest to be the best?"

Well friends, I am hereby serving notice that in the next few weeks I will be offering a series of postings & instructional dvd's which will feature what I feel is vital information for competing in virtually any speech competition, but particularly for those of you who are interested in competing in the upcoming Toastmasters International World Championship of Public Speaking. Some of the information will be totally FREE. But for those who are seriously interested in winning that competition, there will be more extensive and comprehensive training videos, coaching, and written assignments.

Therefore, please continue to check this page in the next few weeks, and please start considering your own personal commitment for competing.

As a World Champion, I certainly know that the time to start revving your engines for the World Title is NOW!! And next year's 2018 Toastmasters International Conference will be hosted right here in my home town of Chicago, Illinois, with the Champion being crowned right before the eyes of the world, here in the Windy City!!!

THE PROPER ATTITUDE FOR
A COMPETITIVE SPEAKING

Many people are afraid to compete in Speech Competitions for one simple reason -- the fear of losing! But I always challenge those who enter contests to change their way of thinking, if they really want to be successful.

Winning is only ONE objective of a champion competitor. Yes, we all love the joy of winning First Place. But a true champion also competes to sharpen his or her skills against what might clearly be a far more talented or accomplished pool of competition! And the ultimate objective is always to improve one's mastery, delivery, and overall skill in the art of speaking.

In this regard, one should never let the fear of losing overshadow the objective of self improvement. I have judged several speech contests where the "best speaker" did NOT win First Place, simply because they did not have the best speech; not because their skill as a speaker was less than adequate, as some might be led to believe. Therefore, the final decision of the judges can sometimes be very misleading to those who enter competitions and aren't aware of the criteria for evaluating the winner.

In the end, I always advise competitors to understand that the most important aspect of competing is a discipline for self improvement!!

If you learn how to overcome your fear of losing, and develop an understanding about how to give your BEST SPEECH ever, that's really what matters most!!

And to be very honest, that's the PROPER ATTITUDE for competitive speaking!!! 🗣
