Many teachers are frustrated and even quitting because students are out of control. I don't believe it is a teachers job to parent. But it doesn't change the fact that many parents are failing to parent their own children. I don't believe the issues of bad parenting are going to change over night. We're here now. I’m all in for the fun. How about st the end of the day? Even on Friday as they are dismissed for the weekend? The poor teachers will have a hard time calming them down for learning. I find it interesting that generations of people completed school successfully but were not constantly entertained.

Teachers were never supposed to replace parents.

I tried reverse suspension at a school I managed. It is where the parents have to come sit with the student all day. Both mother and father alternated. A particular disruptive student had parents who co-patented unsuccessfully. But they didn’t want to keep missing work, so no only did they figure how to co-parent better, the student’s behavior changed dramatically because of it.

Also, the student did not want his parents sitting next to them in class all day. He was embarrassed. It worked well and fixed a few problems.

Suspensions should be used sparingly. But I believe there are extreme situations when they are appropriate. What do you think? #school #Principal #teachers
