There is no historical evidence that Paul Revere yelled "The British are coming!" during his famous midnight ride on April 18, 1775. While the popular poem "Paul Revere's Ride" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow immortalized his actions, it is considered historically inaccurate.

The Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776, but most people didn’t sign it on July 4 itself.

America’s first flag had 13 stars. Each star represented one of the original colonies.

The Revolutionary War officially ended with the signing of the Peace of Paris on September 3, 1783. That’s seven years after the Declaration of Independence was announced.

Benjamin Franklin was very famous in France. He was celebrated by the French aristocracy and court, with his likeness appearing on various items like medallions, snuffboxes, and rings. Women even styled their hair "à la Franklin".

The colonists dropped 342 chests of tea into Boston Harbor during the Boston Tea Party on December 16, 1773. The destroyed tea was valued at approximately £18,000, equivalent to nearly $3 million today.

George Washington did not have wooden teeth. His dentures were made from a variety of materials, including ivory, human teeth, and animal teeth, but not wood. He suffered from dental problems throughout his life, beginning in his early twenties, and had lost all his natural teeth by the time he became president.

The Liberty Bell has cracked multiple times throughout its history. The most famous and final crack happened on George Washington's birthday in 1846, rendering the bell irreparable.

Some women actively participated in espionage during the Revolutionary War. Lydia Barrington Darragh, for instance, overheard British plans and relayed crucial information to George Washington, helping to thwart an attack on his army.

The American Revolution's principles of liberty, equality, and fraternity had a profound impact on France, contributing to the French Revolution of 1789.
