From DePaul University President Rob Manuel:
“Last week, I had the honor of meeting His Holiness Pope Leo XIV. This was a deeply moving experience, made even more special by presenting the Pope with copies of his parents’ DePaul diplomas.

The gift served as a reminder of the power of a Catholic education and the meaningful connection between the Holy Father and our university community.

During my visit, I also met with leaders from the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Development, where we had engaging conversations on the Pope’s recent encyclical about artificial intelligence and environmental sustainability. Building on this relationship, I am especially pleased that a delegation of DePaul faculty will return to Rome in late June to continue strengthening this collaboration.

I was incredibly proud to represent DePaul as part of a distinguished Chicago delegation alongside Mayor Brandon Johnson and share DePaul’s mission on a global platform.

Moments like these reaffirm the importance of the work we have been doing and the far-reaching influence of the DePaul community. I look forward to carrying this experience with me and pushing it forward in service to our students and our Catholic Vincentian mission.”

Where powerful women lead, others follow.

DePaul students had a front-row seat to what leadership in the sports industry actually looks like during our Women in Sports panel with the Chicago Bears. Moderated by Bears Sideline Reporter Lauren Screeden, the conversation brought together powerhouse women leaders who shared honest insights on career paths, challenges and what it takes to break through.

Students walked away with tangible advice they can apply right now as they build their own careers.

This is what the DePaul x Chicago Bears partnership is all about: creating direct access to industry leaders, opening doors and giving students experiences that go beyond the classroom.

As the proud university partner of the Chicago Bears, DePaul is committed to investing in the next generation of leaders.

DePaul students had an incredible opportunity to visit Halas Hall to learn how the Chicago Bears approach sponsorships, marketing and communications as part of their Behind the Scenes of Chicago Sports Organizations class.

During panel discussions and Q&A sessions, Bears staff shared career advice and insights. Some key takeaways:
🔹 Build and nurture relationships—they open doors in a small industry
🔹 Seek opportunities to learn—ask to help or sit in on things
🔹 Confidence is earned through failure
🔹 You might not start in your dream role, but you can grow from there

This immersive class, offered each December through the DePaul Driehaus College of Business, gives students real-world exposure to the sports industry in Chicago and valuable networking opportunities with professionals.
