The energy..

If you were at World Waves, how would you describe the energy last Friday? 🌍 🌊

The energy was hype

The energy was magic

The energy was vibey

The energy was love

The energy was community

The energy was everything

Thank you, Chicago. We have so much more content to share because a week ago we were prepping for something really special.

Family is everything.

That’s my biggest takeaway from last week’s event, World Waves 🌍 🌊
 
Growing up I didn’t feel understood. I still don’t know if I’m always understood but I do feel supported.
 
I know that I’m very lucky to have so much support and that’s not everyone’s reality. I want every space I create to feel like family. I want you to know that we have your back and we want to see you win. I want the love to be felt, seen and heard.

My parents are in their 70s and they show up, ask questions and try to understand what we do eventhough it’s all very new to them.
 
My sister flew out from New York for less than 24 hours, my sister drove two hours to be there and my sister in law showed up after working a 12 hour shift

My brother has been my creative partner ever since he was a baby and we will always create together. Fun fact: He’s actually 7 years younger than me. I know, wild, right?
 
And of course, who holds me down, brainstorms wild ideas with me and is collaborating on the coolest creative project ever, our life together. We are building the family business and creative community we wish we had growing up.
 
Thank you to all of our cousins that were able to be there physically and all of our family that I know is praying for us constantly.
 
I promise you that the next generation is going to know they can do anything they want and will have a squad that will hold them, push them and be there for them.  No matter what.

We are normalizing committing to creativity. Embracing creativity even when it feels like other things in life are more important. Celebrating it because we know that it is necessary.

We all have creative expressions stirring inside of that wants to release. You can have a full time job and be a painter or create music or whatever brings you real joy. Or you can make it your life’s work. There’s no wrong answer. Grateful to share space with these amazing people next week. Tickets are in the link in my bio!

I’m SO excited to announce my first showcase of the creatives I’ve been supporting with World Waves on October 28th 🌍 🌊

Every single one of them tap into culture in their own unique way and it’s been an honor to work them to share and express creatively. Showing up for your creative work is a healing journey and we are doing this together. We are all creatives and these amazing people are examples of what is possible with commitment, putting in the work and vulnerably sharing.

I am beyond proud of my crew.

Two years ago this time I hadn’t even met The Pack yet but I met and I got to see him and iLLEST | CHICAGO | TRAVELING DJ/DRUMMER] perform together on Facebook live in his home studio with and I as the bottle service girls 😂

The connection was just natural. Their energy was magnetic and then I had this crazy idea to do a show together with and that’s how was born and I finally met and .the.ana

The House of Wolves team has taken us in as family. iLLEST | CHICAGO | TRAVELING DJ/DRUMMER] and I love y’all so much. Slowly I met more of the members, we did more and more bad ass events together, and I felt the love, I saw y’all shine in your talents and I was just in awe of how dope this crew is.

As a creative you may experience moments of feeling unworthy of support and I couldn’t believe that I could be blessed with such a talented family of artists that believes in me, saw what I brought to the table. These artists show up, we all give our all and every single one of you inspire the s**t out of me. Every single one of you is needed to make this happen.

I created last year because I knew I needed to create a space to support creatives. Little did I know that just a few months after I accepted that title and committed to show up fully, the crew would get the call. This is a moment I will never forget because I know that so much more is to come from here.

We are building something huge for this city. Thank you so much, Chicago, for all of the support. We get to win together. This win is yours too. LET’S GO!
