Built for what's next. Apply now to join our PreK-12 community in Chicago's West Loop neighborhood. 𩵠We teach kids, not content.
At Bennett Day School, we believe that every child is born wondering, and that fostering this innate curiosity leads to a lifelong love of learning. Inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, our educators are experts in child development and keen observers of students and their interests. Learning is then thoughtfully scaffolded around these interests, which naturally creates a stronger connection

Q: What are your plans after you graduate?
A: I plan to go to Northeastern University in Boston and major in criminology and criminal justice. After I graduate from college, I plan to go to law school to become a criminal defense attorney or prosecutor!
Q: Tell us about your internship experience at Bennett.
A: I interned at the Chicago Police Academy, where I attended law classes, gym classes, CIT (Crisis Intervention Team) simulation classes, and much more. Sometimes I was able to spend the entire day there, and during those times, I attended recruitsā graduations, went to court, observed what the recruits do daily, and participated in their scheduled classes. I also attended events after my scheduled internship hours ended. I truly loved my internship and the people there!
Q: How do you feel Bennett has prepared you for what comes next?
A: Bennett has prepared me for college in many ways, and with all the opportunities weāve had, I feel that Iāve developed certain qualities that I previously lacked. I think that with college life, Bennett has helped boost my confidence and enabled me to come out of my shell!

Q: What are your plans after you graduate?
A: I plan to study astronomy and biophysics at The University of Texas at Austin.
Q: Why did you choose/decide to go to Bennett Day School?
A: I chose to attend Bennett because of its unique approach to learning and the environment it cultivates. Bennettās PBL (Project-Based Learning) classes were a new experience to me, and once I shadowed, I was certain I was meant to be here. It is a genuine environment where students can be themselves in a multitude of ways, and the teachers do everything to support that further.
Q: Whatās your favorite project-based learning (PBL) memory?
A: My favorite PBL project is DEFINITELY our Space PBL, which took place in Trimester 2 of my junior year. Our two grades were mixed into two teams for the Regional Space Settlement Design Competition (), and during preparation, we traveled to NASA's Kennedy Space Center! As someone who has always been interested in a career in space science and space travel, this was another incredible experience that further solidified my post-high school plans. Regionals led to me being one of four students selected (Class of ā25 alums Brosnan and Evan, and current senior Anna) to compete in the International Space Settlement Design Competition this past summer!

Senior Spotlight: Ren āØ
Q: What are your plans after you graduate?
A: Iāll be going to Claremont McKenna College, majoring in integrated science while on the pre-med track. I plan to go to medical school and one day become a physician, and more specifically, a surgeon.
Q: Why did you decide to go to Bennett Day School?
A: I decided to go to Bennett because of their unique approach to learning and their respect for studentsā lives outside of school. As a prospective student, I valued how Bennett supported students in focusing on their own educational interests while still becoming well-informed in other subjects.
Q: How do you feel Bennett has prepared you for what comes next?
A: Bennett fosters an environment that has helped me grow as an individual and as a member of my community. I have become much more independent and responsible, as evident in my improved time management skills. Iāve also become confident in my ability to work in group settings, no matter the task or environment I am in. I consider all of these things to be essential life skills that will greatly benefit me when I am soon attending college across the country.
