NCLEX Prep Series!

Feeling overwhelmed about studying for the NCLEX and don’t know where to start? Nursing Student Council will be hosting 4 NCLEX prep sessions to provide a relaxing environment in which students can begin to prep for the NCLEX while with fellow students. Each session will be centered on certain topics.
At the end of each session, we will raffle off 2 NCLEX prep books to students who attend the event! (Books vary from Lippincott, Kaplan & Saunders.) We are also anticipating giving out a bigger prize to a lucky winner who attends 3 out of the 4 events.

Student Council will also be hosting a Recent Grad Panel at the end of Career day on April 6th. More information to come.

On behalf of HPSC, we have an exciting event to share with you:

A group of students from the College of Medicine have been working on an exciting event planned for January 13th, 2018, in Chicago. We’re calling it the Future of Medicine Summit – a day-long conference meant to bring together tomorrow’s healthcare leaders to consider the problems and opportunities in the system. It is focused on innovation and problem solving, and will feature colleagues from all 8 Illinois medical schools, Chicago’s innovation community, and you, allied health students changing the landscape of your respective fields.

We have a great line-up planned for the event: the University Innovation Fellows from Stanford will be leading an interactive design workshop to help medical professionals integrate ideation and design into their education. We'll also have speakers from Output Medical, Healthbox, AVIA Innovation, and more who will lead discussions that range from disruptive technologies, to medical entrepreneurship and venture capital, to an initiative to integrate innovation directly into training programs here in Chicago.

Throughout the event, you’ll have a chance to network with tomorrow’s healthcare leaders and brainstorm how we might change the face of the industry. Hey everyone! On behalf of HPSC, we wanted to let you know about a new FREE program being offered on campus called Let's Talk! These are informal one on one counseling sessions that will be happening at Student Center West (Room 235) every Thursday (starting 10/12) from 4pm-6pm! Feel free to stop on by and check it out :) Message the Counseling Center, or your HPSC reps Safia Khan or Jessica Karolina Wardach if you have any questions!

HPSC Announcement: The Relationship Bootcamp Workshop will be starting soon! This is not couples therapy, but rather an interactive, skills-based workshop that can teach you how to better connect and understand your partner. *Only one member per couple needs to be a UIC student. This workshop is inclusive of couples with diverse cultural identities and sexual orientations and is open to couples with varying relationship statuses (e.g., married, dating, etc).
*DATES FOR THE RELATIONSHIP WORKSHOP*: The workshop will be held on Mondays: October 23rd, October 30th, November 6th, and November 13th from 5:00pm-6:30pm on West Campus. The exact location will be announced at a later date, but will likely be in Student Center West. Participants are asked to commit to all workshop meetings. Registration is required and space is limited (first come first served). There is no cost for participating in this workshop. Hi everyone! Jessica Wardach and Safia Khan are part of an organization, called Health Professions Student Council (or HPSC for short!) We are basically representatives for the College of Nursing BSN students (you!). Our goal is integrate and increase the amount of interdisciplinary events with the other colleges (medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, etc.), so if you ever have an idea for an event, please feel free to reach out to us and you could possibly have the event (partially or) fully paid for! :) We will be updating you with various events around the medical campus as well.
