I’ve always prioritized experiences over work. Probably too much of a carpe diem attitude for some, and it definitely shows in my bank account. We budget where we can and splurge on creating memories. And I’ll share some ways that even our “splurges” are more affordable, like CB over Vail/Telluride/Beaver Creek, etc.

Hosting is my happiness. And I realized about halfway through 2025 that I hadn’t been inviting people into my home the way I used to. And I missed it.
The reasons? Typical. Work. Kids. Stress. Not enough space. All valid reasons, but I realized that for something that brings me such joy, I need to make space for it. And so I did. I moved into a house I feel more comfortable hosting in. And I make it a goal to invite people over every month, no matter how busy I feel. I literally write in my planner: “Entertain in…(whatever the month).” Often, it’s something small. For me, that’s fine. It’s the practice of intentionally inviting people over, getting the house ready, and planning an event that shows people I care. I’m not afraid to look like I try, because I do. That’s just me. I’m going to dress up, I’m going to send an invite, and there’s going to be a theme, or at least a featured cocktail.
So while I didn’t accomplish this in 2025, I’m going to keep my goal for 2026–to host in my home each month. It can be big. It can be small. It can be a dinner party. It can be drinks. It just needs to be intentional. And I can’t wait to look back on this upcoming year, and see what it brings and what it teaches me. I’m excited for the surprises. I’m excited for the joy. I’m excited for the connections. I’m excited for the champagne. Cheers to 2026.
