Hi Folks. BELIEVE (Be-Live) LLC has had a complete overall in terms of issues, not format. We are know known as BELIEVE (Be-Live) Network. We are launching our second project, the WOMEN'S LIVES MATTER, TOO campaign on September 21, 2020 and can surely use your support. To better understand why WOMEN'S LIVES MATTER, TOO today, here are some chilling facts:
• The Buffalo News 2010-2015 investigation reported that a law enforcement official was caught in a case of sexual abuse or misconduct at least every five days;
• Police officer sexual misconduct is the second most frequently reported form of police misconduct but not the second most talked about;
• According to the Buffalo News investigation, police agencies are reluctant to take reports, or complaints of this kind of conduct—often able to dissuade people from making them, and even wrongfully categorizing reports of abuse as discourtesy, improper search, or unprofessional conduct in an attempt to diminish their severity and impact. If all else fails, police departments and their officers have been known to actively pursue a victim’s silence through direct threats, bullying, dehumanizing, and intimidation and rarely, by paying for the victim’s silence; and,
• According to a Buffalo News report, for the Victims whose cases are investigated, the dominate theme in current investigative techniques is the presumption that [sexual assault] victims are lying and the initial job of the investigators is to expose it.
We should also know by now that we can't depend on the police to police themselves. Yet there is often nowhere that a woman who has been sexually assaulted by an officer can go to report it — except the police. If she goes to the district attorney or a civilian oversight agency, the case is usually referred to a police department for investigation. Intimidation is common. To make matters worse, right before he resigned, Jeff Sessions sabotaged the DOJ’s ability to fight police abuse in places like in Ferguson, Baltimore, New Orleans, Cleveland, Chicago and Los Angeles. Sessions’s memo instructed the department’s lawyers to be very reluctant to pursue consent decrees. And that meant that if civil rights lawyers within the DOJ wanted to go after a particularly egregious police department, they would have to fight with at least one arm tied behind their back. When asked why more departments haven't taken up the charge, an International Association Chief of Police (IACP) spokesman simply said, "We don't see a groundswell from people who are protesting their police departments for this kind of activity." That’s about to change because,
WOMEN’S LIVES MATTER, TOO. Without qualifications. Without asterisks. Without add-ons. WLMT is high-tech, multimedia, Live streaming, Underground Railroad, metaphorically speaking.
How does your heart not go out to these women and some men who have been denied justice—or justice delayed for years—their lives destroyed, and they live in fear all because the sexual predators and abusers are police officers?
The movement. based on allegations against Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein in 2017 and victims of sexual abuse—in the church, in the locker room, in the work place, and yes, in the exam room—began to speak up and demand accountability and justice. Yet, even as more efforts to stem sexual abuse by powerful men come to light, a marginalized group of Women, and some men, continue to suffer at the hands of people who should be protecting them.
And, the WOMEN’S LIVES MATTER, TOO is designed to assist women with similar stories who want to come forward. Surviving victims, their families, friends, colleagues and communities are calling on all of you to help fund this unprecedented, profoundly necessary platform to keep all women, girls, and a few guys, safe from sexists, sexual predators, racists, institutionalized sexual assault, r**e and drug-facilitated r**e, et al. In honor of Civil Rights icon, John Lewis’ legacy, "Do not get lost in a sea of despair. Be hopeful, be optimistic. Our struggle is not the struggle of a day, a week, a month, or a year, it is the struggle of a lifetime. Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble."
