A beautiful day at Gensburg-Markham Prairie on Saturday! 🌱☀️

The Friends of Illinois Nature Preserves hosted a Prairie Jubilee, bringing together students, community members, and environmental professionals for a day of stewardship and connection.

Volunteers worked side-by-side to remove woody brush encroaching on the prairie, helping protect this remarkable ecosystem for future generations. Thank you to everyone who contributed their time and energy to support this incredible natural resource! 🙌🙌

Last week's native planting event was a success! 🎉 Thanks to all the kind volunteers who joined us—we planted over 600 Illinois native grasses and wildflowers in the NEIU greenhouse. 🌾🪻

The plants are now being grown in collaboration with volunteers from three groups:
1. Friends of Gensburg-Markham Prairie
2. The 4H Glenview Clovers
3. NEIU greenhouse/plant sale volunteers.

Some of the seedlings have already started sprouting! 🌱
