The conference may not have taken place, but there’s always opportunities to support and educate yourself on being a better ally to the Black community. Please be intentional about continuing this work even after the hashtags and public outcry have dwindled.
Here are a few films and series on Netflix you can watch detailing the institutional injustices faced by Black people in America. Please be warned, they are emotionally triggering.
Honorable Mention: Explained Season 1- The Racial Wealth Gap episode.

Dear BLMC Participants and Supporters,
In light of everything going on surrounding COVID-19, Loyola University Chicago has made the decision to transition to online classes and has discouraged all campus programming to continue. As a program sponsored by the university, the Committee has decided to cancel the 2020 Black Lives Matter Conference to take place on March 28th this year. At this time, it will not be postponed to a later date in the Spring semester.
While we greatly appreciate the time commitments and efforts you all have poured into this conference, your safety and wellbeing is our top priority.
We would like to specifically thank those of you who signed up to be workshop presenters, vendors, volunteers, attendees, and financial donors for this year’s conference to make it a success. We received an unprecedented amount of support this year, and we do not want that to go unnoticed. We hope to engage with you all in the next Loyola University Chicago Black Lives Matter Conference.
Lastly, we are working to process refunds for those of you who paid to attend or donated to cover attendee registration. Please allow us until the end of the week (March 20th) to get this sorted. If you have any additional questions, please contact our email account: [email protected].
