"Brinshore is codeveloping the site with the Michaels Development Organization and the Cabrini-Green Local Advisory Council. 'We see it as a bridge between the income groups,' Levavi says. 'Everybody loves food, everybody likes getting their hands dirty. There's no such thing as low-income farming. It's just farming.'"

ICYMI: This Washington Post article ft research by Harris Prof Bruce Meyer showing that "exceptionally inaccurate" survey data leads us to underestimate the impact of food stamps and other government assistance programs.

In his NBER study, Meyer finds that "When the numbers are corrected, we see that government programs have about twice the effect that we think they do." Check out the full study here: http://www.nber.org/papers/w21676
