Federal decisions made this week are putting children, families and publicly funded child care systems at risk for more than 1.4 million children and their families nationwide.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has taken actions that threaten to destabilize child care systems and undermine economic security for working families, including proposed regulation changes, funding freezes and halted payments to providers.
While accountability matters, these measures were taken despite the lack of real evidence of widespread issues, without clear guidance or consideration for the real world impact on children and families.
