The American Institute of Indian Studies is dedicated to the advancement of knowledge about India an candidates and artists in pursuit of knowledge about India.

For over 50 years, the American Institute of Indian Studies has shaped American knowledge of India. The Photo Archive of the Center for Art and Archaeology Center for Art & Archaeology preserves an extraordinary visual record of the regionโ€™s artistic heritage. Its collections include surveys of more than 350 museum collections across India, as well as documentation projects undertaken by CA&A staff, several of which were commissioned and funded by the Government of India. Together, these collections encompass sculptures, paintings, coins, and other cultural treasures housed in public and private museums throughout the country.
