Sacred Sunday is your reminder that wholeness doesn’t come from control — it, in part, comes from trust.

The last few years have refined me.
2022, 2023, and 2024 asked questions I didn’t know I was ready to answer. They stretched my plans, my peace, my children… my faith.

And even when everything felt uncertain —
when momentum slowed, when doors closed,
when I couldn’t see what was next —
I trusted myself to keep going.

This collage holds the many faces of that trust.
The face of me pivoting.
The face of me tired but still present.
The face of me confused, anxious, unsure… yet still trusting. It’s me owning my seat, even when I’m unclear where I stand.

That’s what faith has looked like for me lately —
not loud or certain, but quiet and consistent.
It’s not always polished.
It’s not always powerful.
Sometimes it’s tender, trembling, and held together by grace.

Owning your seat means staying present,
even when the waves are high,
the road uneven,
and you’re wondering how you — and the people you love — will make it through.

Still, you breathe.
Still, you rise.
Still, you trust.

Because faith isn’t performance — it’s practice. And every time we show up — tired, uncertain, hopeful —
we remind ourselves that wholeness lives in trust, not control.

💭 Reflection:
Where in your life do you need to trust the seat you’re in, even if you don’t see what’s ahead?

It’s been a little over two months since A Pot to P*ss In hit the world, and so many of you have had questions—deep, thoughtful ones.

So I’m answering them here, in a new micro-series called “A Conversation with the Author.”

This first question isn’t about love—but the answer is. 💭

09/15/2025

In A Pot to P*ss In, I wrote:

“That’s who we are — a family that leads. We are going to lead…by living a lifestyle rooted in values. We’re going to live with intention, and we’re going to live in the present with our futures in mind.”

I needed to show that mothering isn’t just about repeating what’s been handed down from generation to generation. It’s creative. It’s political (whether we like it or not). It’s educational and intentional.

Even when my kids were 5, 6, or 7, we sat around the table talking about the impact we wanted to make in the world. Not because I expected them to “get it right” at that age — but because I wanted them to know early that their lives matter and their choices could shape legacies. I wanted to normalize this.

And although we’ve had our share of challenges and setbacks, those early conversations still anchor us. They remind us of who we are and pull us back on course.

Here’s the truth: back then, I often felt powerless — surveilled as a mother, stretched thin while raising kids and grinding through a PhD, trying to “become somebody” in a world that never felt stable. Out there, I shrank. But behind closed doors? Mothering became the one place I could stand tall, lead with authority, and take up space without apology.

💡 So here’s your Monday motivation: Sis, no matter who you are — whether you feel like you’re “just a mom,” a mother on top of everything else, or an othermother who rarely gets her credit — if you’re not going to just say “eff it”, you might as well build and lead. Stand in the power that is yours. Mothering is leadership. Own it. Take up space. Lead with intention. Girl, gon’ head and build that legacy. Whether you see it right now or not, what you’re doing with those kids will shape generations to come. You’re kind of a big deal.

Transformation Tuesday Post
🌀Transformation Tuesday: A Bold Curl Story 🌀

Listen. The thing about natural hair—especially coily, 4-something hair—is that it’s a LOT of work. And when life is moving fast, you stick to what you know.

But a few months ago, I decided to switch it up. Flexi rods. For the first time. And let me tell you—🔥 GAME. CHANGER. 🔥

Sometimes, transformation isn’t about drastic cuts or color—it’s about the courage to step outside your comfort zone. And this? This was worth every single curl.

What’s the boldest thing you’ve ever done with your hair? Drop your stories below! ⬇️💇🏾‍♀️

Serena Williams’ Super Bowl Crip Walk Was a Masterclass in Bold Moves & Unapologetic Power

Some moments in history are bigger than they look at first glance. Serena Williams hitting the Crip Walk on the Super Bowl stage? That was one of those moments.

It was only a few seconds, but the statement was loud: This is what it looks like when a Black woman moves boldly—on her own terms.

When Serena first did this dance back in 2012—after winning Olympic gold—she was dragged for it. They called it inappropriate, unprofessional, even dangerous. They wanted her to shrink, to “act right,” to make herself more palatable. She didn’t.

And now, more than a decade later, she did it again. This time, on one of the biggest stages in the world, with a standing ovation.

That’s the thing about being bold. First, they try to shame you for it. Then, they can’t help but respect it.

And let’s talk about the layers to this moment:

-She did this during Kendrick Lamar’s performance of "Not Like Us"—a song calling out Drake, who once publicly mocked her and her husband. The universe could not have scripted this better.
-She reclaimed a dance they once shamed her for, right in front of millions. The same media that clutched their pearls in 2012? Watching in silence now.
-She reminded us what it looks like when a Black woman stands firm in who she is. No apologies. No shrinking. Just power.
This is the energy we’re on: bold moves only.

Serena’s moment at the Super Bowl wasn’t just about sports, music, or even petty excellence (though we love that part). It was about how history treats bold women—especially bold Black women—and what it means to refuse to play small.

That’s exactly what we celebrate at Infamous Mothers. Women who move in power. Women who set their own terms. Women who know that being unapologetic isn’t just an option—it’s a necessity.

So, this week, ask yourself: What’s your bold move? What’s the thing they told you not to do—because it was “too much,” “too loud,” “too Black,” “too disruptive”? And what would happen if you did it anyway?

Because one thing is for sure: The world won’t always be ready. But when you move boldly, they will take notice.

When I wrote A Pot to Pss In*, I knew this wouldn’t be just a story to tell for the sake of telling. This wasn’t a vent session, a tell-all, or a diary. Every personal struggle—every conflict, fear, and insecurity I revealed—had to bring a lesson with it. So grateful to Monique for catching that purpose. Her words say it all: this isn’t just a story; it’s a strategy for turning challenges into stepping stones. And I’m here for it. Pre-Sales begin November 12th! Details coming soon.

On my last tour, sisterhood was supposed to be the heart of it all. But when I ran into a few mean-spirited encounters, I let it shake me and lost my footing, giving way too much power to voices that didn’t matter. This time, with the Without Apology Tour, I’m leaning into sisterhood even more intentionally. Our mission isn’t just to reach 1 million women; it’s to create genuine connections that last. I hope each event sparks new bonds, a community of women lifting each other up, and a shared resilience. I can’t wait to witness the growth, strength, and sisterhood we’ll build together.
