Eliminating racism in medicine. Having crucial convos. Making meaningful change.

11/05/2023

We have important news! Itโ€™s been a while since we connected with you. We hope all is well. Unfortunately, currently there is not an active White Coats for Black Lives Chapter at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. We hope that in the future students will lead an active chapter because working with the National Chapter to dismantle racism and accompanying systems of oppression in health while cultivating means for collective liberation that center the needs, priorities, and self-determination of Black people and other people of color, particularly those most marginalized in our communities is vital work.

Secondly, the White Coats for Black Lives Chapter at Stritch had such a positive impact on Stritch and the surrounding community that we decided to implement a similar mission beyond Loyola University Chicago. Thus, White Coats Protecting Black Lives is an organization born out of WC4BL Chapter at Stritch.

What is White Coats Protecting Black Lives (WCPBL)? We are an organization of healthcare professionals working to eliminate racism from the medical profession. We engage in crucial conversations and we support and advocate for meaningful change in the field of medicine. We are not affiliated with Loyola University Chicago, Black Lives Matter, nor White Coats for Black Lives. We are currently in the process of becoming a 501(c)3.

We hope that you will join WCPBL to continue the important work of providing equal quality healthcare to all patients. Please take a seconds to opt-in or out of the WCPBL listserv via the following link: https://us10.list-manage.com/survey?u=b719421055426f214f9c76deb&id=ae89ae4d3e

On July 5, 1852, Frederick Douglass gave a keynote address at an event commemorating the signing of the Declaration of Independence, held at Corinthian Hall in Rochester, New York.

Read the full speech at the link in our bio and learn why the shouldnโ€™t just be about fireworks and BBQs but about learning from our history in order to not repeat it. None of us are free unless we ALL are free.
