processing⏳…

the process of ceramics is lengthy, but that’s also why i find it so rewarding.

it starts as a raw material>gets shaped by hand or on the wheel> dries for up to a week> gets some refining, often through wet sanding> gets its first 🔥 in the kiln transforming it to a sturdier form called “bisque” > gets glazed > and then finally gets thrown into the kiln for its final🔥 where it gets transformed into its final (hopefully beautiful!) form

this bowl was my first go at handbuilding a larger piece. it now lives on our counter or table and houses anything from fruit to farmers market goodies. it brings a smile to my face every time, and I especially love how the glaze brought out an (unexpected) deep indigo color.

can’t wait to show you more of the hand built pieces I’ve been working on 🙌🏼

Hello there 👋🏼 I’m Chloe, the creator of CLAE ceramics. I'm glad you’re here.

My journey has taken me quite a few places so far: from Idaho to Tokyo to India to currently Seattle. I get my inspiration from these places and their unique forms as well as from the simple and wild nature of Mother Earth in general. I believe that simple is beautiful and imperfection is perfection.

In September, I’m moving to Chicago to start a graduate program in Design Innovation! In the window of time between, I’ve started this passion project with a goal to make 55 pieces for my first product drop. (Revenue from this project will help me with my education, so thank you in advance!)

In addition to an appreciation for simplicity, I believe that our spaces can either drain us or fill us and inspire us! So, I hope that these pieces will spark added moments of joy, and find a new home in yours. Most of all, I hope you love them!

(details on the first product drop coming soon 🎉)
