To me, being a Chaplain isn’t only about providing spiritual care to those in healthcare facility rooms… it’s also about providing kindness and encouragement wherever I am. It’s smiling and saying “Good morning” in the hallways, it’s holding the elevator for someone so they don’t miss it, it’s helping an outpatient find the location of their appointment so they won’t be late. Sometimes it’s sitting down for a coffee with a staff member who’s having a hard day. And often, it’s just being available and approachable for those who need a listening ear or an encouraging word.
