In this quickly changing educational climate, I am so excited to sit down with Atiba Buchanan & LaDonna Raeh on WVON’s Afternoon Show to talk about the state of the ACT and SAT and how to prepare for it. While many colleges are still test optional, a solid ACT/SAT test score is becoming increasingly more important to secure a spot in your college of choice. This interview isn’t just for high school juniors. It is for as early as junior high school students and parents that are trying to figure out how to best be prepared. Please tune in and feel free to add to the conversation by calling (773) 591- 1690. Please feel free to share this post with your networks. It is going to be a great conversation.

Often, the most challenging part of coaching students (6th grade up to a Doctoral Level) one-on-one is getting students to believe that they are better than their past. Some students don’t believe that they test well or that they won’t get much better whether it is test prep, writing, etc. One of my favorite moments with my students is when they realize what they didn’t think was possible is actually possible. Today, one of my juniors had her “impossible becoming possible” moment. During her initial assessment, she had a 28 on the English section. Today, she took a mini practice English test and got a perfect score of 36. I am so happy that I could be a part of her moment.
Please share this post/story with a student or parent who may need to hear it, so they can start to believe.
I have a few coaching spots left for the Summer. If you are interested, go to www.ropproject.org to schedule a free consultation to get started.

NEVER BEEN SO SURPRISED...
Recently, a mom contacted me who was referred to me by a former client whose daughters I helped get a 1500 and 1510 on the SAT. Her son is a junior, and she wanted to get him one-on-one coaching to help him prepare to retake the ACT in the summer and possibly the Fall. The son wasn’t feeling it at first. By the time he completed his initial assessment and orientation with me, he did a complete turnaround. He even kept telling me that this is the kind of help I need during our initial time together. He was so onboard with my coaching that he told his mom that HE WOULD PAY A THIRD OF MY FEE OUT OF HIS MONEY. I HAVE NEVER HAD A STUDENT OFFER TO HELP WITH THE COST. I WAS SO SHOCKED. IT MADE MY DAY.
SOPHOMORES AND JUNIORS, do you need one-on-one coaching to help you significantly increase your SAT/ACT this summer or fall? Schedule a free consultation today at www.ropproject.org. We have a few spots left.

Hey! I don’t want to continue to be upset about the number of students who are academically solid on paper (3.0+ GPA) and not as solid as they think when you work with these students one-on-one doing fundamental exercises and basic test taking strategies. Instead, I want to offer a solution for a small group of high school students (9th-11th grade) and their parents who don’t want to be blindsided their junior/senior years and want to be ready to be competitive to get into their college of choice, find money for college, and be successful in college on day one.
I am committed to doing a one-day, in-person event with no more than 25 students (9-11th grade) and their parents who are ready to invest in their future and want help creating an individualized plan for the student and their family to reach their goals. Lately, I have become more and more troubled by the number of students who have done ACT/SAT, fundamental, and writing assessments with me and have no clue that in their current academic state they would be in trouble trying to being competitive getting into their college of choice, finding money for college, and being successful on their day one of college. On paper, these students look solid academically, including students who are in the top 10 of their class. As a result, these students and their parents saw no traditional signs of trouble. To make matters worse, many of their students and parents would have gladly invested into additional academic support services like mine had there been signs before their junior year. Now, I have Juniors and their parents scrambling to create a plan. I want to help other high school students and families not be in this situation.
By the first week of January, I want to do a one-day, in-person event with no more than 25 students (9-11th grade) and their parents who are ready to invest in themselves and want to create a specific plan for the student and their family. I want to help families start 2025 with a clear directives on what to do to reach their specific goals.

It just doesn’t have to be like this for our students. Thanks!

Sophomores and Juniors, you should be prepping NOW. Remember, taking a school test is not the same as taking a standardized test. Make sure you leave yourself more than enough time to unlearn and learn the things you need to be successful.
