As the temperatures start rising, one of the biggest worries for new parents is knowing whether their baby is too hot or too cold ☀️👶
The good news is that it’s usually much simpler than it feels. Cold hands and feet don’t automatically mean your baby is cold, and small adjustments like adding or removing a layer can make a big difference in keeping them comfortable.
In this video, Christina shares easy ways to check your baby’s temperature, how to dress them for warmer weather, and what every parent should know about safe sleep during the summer months!

Mastitis can be painful and overwhelming, especially when you’re already navigating the ups and downs of postpartum recovery ❤️
One of the biggest myths we hear is that you should immediately stop breastfeeding if mastitis happens. In reality, continuing to breastfeed or pump is often one of the best ways to help relieve the inflammation and support healing.
Of course, every situation is different, and it’s always important to check in with your healthcare provider if you’re experiencing symptoms like fever, redness, swelling, or severe pain.
Have you ever heard this myth before? Let us know in the comments 👇

As the weather warms up, here’s a simple guide to help you dress your baby for sleep so they stay comfortable and don’t overheat 😴👇
Start by checking your baby’s room temperature and finding it on the chart. From there, you can see what clothing layers are recommended and what TOG rating their sleepwear or sleep sack should be for a safe and comfortable night’s sleep!
You can also help keep your baby cool by:
🛁 Giving them a lukewarm bath before bedtime
🪟 Keeping blinds or curtains closed during the day to cool the room
🌀 Letting air circulate with a fan (just not left on in the room while baby sleeps unsupervised)
🌡️ Using a room thermometer to keep the temperature between 60–68°F

Should you wake a sleeping baby to feed them? It’s one of the most common questions new parents ask, and the answer can depend on a few key things ⬇️
For newborns under 2 weeks old, yes, it’s usually recommended to wake them every 2 to 3 hours for feeds to support healthy weight gain.
For healthy, growing babies who are gaining weight well, you can often let them sleep and feed when they wake naturally.
For preterm or underweight babies, it’s important to follow your healthcare provider’s guidance and wake them for feeds as advised.
Additionally, if you’re breastfeeding, those early frequent feeds can also help support and establish your milk supply.
Every baby is different, so if you’re ever unsure, check in with your healthcare provider for personalized advice.

From the moment your baby is born, they’re learning, growing, and taking in the world around them.
In those early months, development happens quickly, especially during the first 1,000 days, when so much of your baby’s brain growth is shaped by their environment and experiences.
While milestones like rolling, smiling, laughing, and eventually crawling are all part of the journey, every baby develops in their own way and at their own pace. These milestones are simply a guide to help you understand what you might see along the way.
Here at The Baby Academy, our classes are designed to support families through key moments in early parenthood, from newborn care and early milestones to guidance on introducing solids.
Because every baby is different, having the right information can help you feel more confident through each step of their development ❤️
