You have to listen very closely to the sounds of the one handed screenprinting…

Printing more CPC branded bags for folks to take their new artwork home in. ⭐️ I mixed a fun green-blue color with some of our old community-use inks. The blue was old and almost dried out, mixed with a new yellow. It made for a nice green with the occasional chunk of blue streaking through.

‼️MEMBER SPOTLIGHT‼️

Ani Johnson is an emerging printmedia artist, specializing in etching and monotype. Originally from Boston, they now live and work in Chicago after earning a BFA in Fine Arts from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2025. Ani sees much of their work as an ode to printmedia through which they navigate their lived experience and relationship with the spaces in which they exist. In each piece, Ani attempts to embrace the qualities of printmaking that cannot be controlled, these qualities require the anticipation of uncertainty, which they believe encourages the use of intuition. This allows their observational work to access a truer experience of a space. Each piece is a practice of relinquishing control and leaving it up to chance, which, in turn, makes theirs – a practice of acceptance.

More nostalgia content coming from the bookshelf clean-outs we’re doing… Owner/boss Deborah working on a litho, drawing on her stone, with long time member Kim Laurel pulling an etching off the press!

Creating a space for coworking where collaboration and creativity can flow has always been one of the main pillars of CPC. Come by to see if a membership or a class will be right for you!

Spring cleaning meets nostalgia and adoration for books before the age of the internet… our bookshelf holds such gems!

Photos galore from Deb’s starting days getting the Chicago Printmakers Collaborative started in its first location. From a walkup studio in Ukrainian village, to a shop underneath the Western Brown line, then now to our permanent location at 4912 N Western Ave, some of the CPC fixtures have been with us the whole time! Photos showed Deb and team building their first graining sink, working alongside some cabinets you can find still in our studio now, and the iconic Mayor Daley “Sorry for the Inconvenience” sign.
