Morning lesson with one of my 4 years old students. Teaching my student to improvise Canon in D, because he heard it and loved the piece. (This is transposed to C major and he is able to play in all the other major keys)

Learning music doesn't have to be boring, strictly following method books or lesson plans. It can be fun and spontaneous and this is how children learn. When they are interested and motivated, they will go to the piano to play and make music.

Congratulations to my student who recently passed the ABRSM Grade 2 performance exam! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰ Everytime we tried to record the performance, my student would always get super anxious. It's not always easy to perform in front of cameras or audiences, especially playing all 4 pieces in one take. It is also a skill we learn in piano lessons and she definitely worked extra hard to reach this achievement! πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ

Happy World Piano Day 🎹🎹🎹

Throwback from one of my favorite pieces performed at the Chicago Cultural Center

Piano Day, an annual worldwide event founded by a group of like-minded people, takes place on the 88th day of the year – in 2023, it’s the 29th March – because of the number of keys on the instrument being celebrated.

β€œWhy does the world need a Piano Day? For many reasons. But mostly, because it doesn’t hurt to celebrate the piano and everything around it: performers, composers, piano builders, tuners, movers and most important, the listener.” – Nils Frahm

When you trust the process and follow through in your practice, you will see huge progress. A beginner student who has only been with me for a few months, and he learned this piece in less than 2 weeks. Keep up the good work! πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ
