Do you have direct access to a Dermatologist that you trust? Comment below, we want to hear from you!!
Some of the most important work happening in scalp and hair health is happening quietly behind the scenes.
Recently, at the American Academy of Dermatology, Susan L. Peterkin joined collaborative conversations where salon professionals and medical professionals came together to discuss partnership education and the future of scalp and hair health care.
For years Susan has advocated for cosmetologists to have a seat at the table in conversations involving hair loss scalp disorders client trust and referral relationships. Not for recognition, but because the beauty industry often sees the first signs before anyone else does.
These panels and meetings are part of the work that continues to push collaboration forward between cosmetologists and board-certified dermatologists through education communication and community.

Happy Birthday to Dr. Chesahna Kindred 💛
Today we celebrate a dermatologist, educator, mentor, co-founder, and leader who continues to change lives through hair loss education, scalp health advocacy, and collaboration between stylists and board-certified dermatologists.
Because of Dr. Kindred’s work, so many professionals and clients now understand that early detection matters, education matters, and that “Time = Follicles™.”
Thank you for the knowledge, the leadership, the honesty, and the way you continue to pour into this industry and community every single day.
Join us in wishing Dr. Kindred a very Happy Birthday below!

Everybody talks about the hardest part of doing hair.
Not enough people talk about the pressure that comes AFTER you become licensed.
Now clients trust you.
Now people expect answers.
Now you’re responsible!
The S.T.R.A.N.D. x Salon Noa “STATE OF SCALP CARE” Town Hall was created for those real conversations.
No gatekeeping.
No pretending.
No shaming stylists for what they weren’t taught in school.
Just honest conversations about the beauty industry, misinformation, scalp health, referrals, client trust, and what the future of healthy hair care should actually look like.

Behind every woman changing lives is usually another woman who poured into her first. Today we celebrate the mothers behind S.T.R.A.N.D. co-founders Dr. Chesahna Kindred and Susan L. Peterkin, and the family, love, strength, and care that helped shape this movement.
Hair loss impacts so many mothers, daughters, sisters, and families quietly. Some women spend years hiding thinning hair, changing styles to cover certain areas, avoiding photos, or feeling like nobody understands what they’re experiencing.
Through S.T.R.A.N.D., we’ve watched conversations around hair loss become less embarrassing and more empowering because of education, early detection, and collaboration between stylists and board-certified dermatologists.
Seeing Dr. K beside her sister Amirah and their mom reminds us that this work is personal. Seeing Susan stand tall and empowered beside her mom is a reminder of how confident you can be with the right support.
It’s bigger than classes, workshops, or social media posts. It’s about helping families feel seen, informed, and supported before more time and follicles are lost.
Happy Mother’s Day to every mother, bonus mom, grandmother, auntie, mentor, and caregiver helping someone feel confident, cared for, and loved.
The final 2 photos are the two ladies that have committed to changing the world together. Join us in celebrating them today, and everyday!
Healthy Scalp, Healthy Hair.
With love, from S.T.R.A.N.D.!
