Mental health matters!

🧠 I want my kids to see that taking care of your brain is important. Brains work in different ways, and it’s never something to feel embarrassed about.

✨ I model positive self talk and body acceptance. Exercise and healthy eating are habits we model, and I narrate that I love how healthy habits make me feel.

❌ I’m not perfect in any way… and that’s the point. I don’t expect them to be perfect either. I apologize when I mess up, and I model that I’m responsible for managing my emotions.

🐶🐶 With 3 kids and 2 puppies it’s a nonnegotiable that our couch has to be easy to clean!

🧼 Our leather sectional wipes clean and holds up to the constant daily messes that come with a busy family!

Easy chicken meatballs for kids!

Letting my kids help choose dinner has made such a difference with picky eating, and meatballs are always a favorite. I picked up Springer Mountain Farms ground chicken at Fresh Thyme. I love shopping there and knowing I’m getting high-quality, humanely raised chicken that I feel great serving my family.

These come together quickly and are perfect for busy weeknights.

Kid-friendly meatballs recipe:

1 package Springer Mountain Farms ground chicken
1 egg
1/2 cup parmesan cheese
1/4 cup breadcrumbs
1 tsp garlic powder

Mix, roll into meatballs, and bake at 400° for 15–18 minutes or until cooked through. Serve with pasta and marina, bbq sauce, or plain with ketchup!

There’s no perfect script. This is how I’m talking to my kids about current events right now, focusing on empathy, history, and human dignity.

My kids are 10, 7, and 7. I didn’t expect to go quite as deep as we did, but they had a lot of questions. With family being impacted in various ways, they already had a level of awareness that needed clarity without creating fear.

Once we started talking, they had endless questions, thoughts, and ideas. It’s an ongoing conversation, and I’m really glad the lines of communication are open.

Thankful to share and hope this helps another family. 🌈
