Coaches, when you’re so busy taking care of everyone else…who takes care of you!? There is less mentoring in this industry than ever and the pressures are also greater than ever. Coaches need coaches! Coaches need tools! Coaches need a plan! I’m sharing a few insider tips here (SCROLL➡️) from a workshop I love facilitating on sustaining high performance AND mental wellness. Moving from “surviving to thriving!” Maybe someday I’ll write a book on the subject, what do you think!?

Wisdom is knowing that we are always under construction. Internal change is some of the hardest work because of our own blindspots and comfortable/developed patterns. Work with me to move from awareness ➡️ action.

“We are losing a huge, HUGE part of what this thing is. Humans with the passion and inspiration to perform, TOGETHER for something. Can’t quantify that. It is actually magic. Feeling supported unlocks it.”

At the end of my college coaching career, one of the biggest challenges had become managing satisfaction of athletes. As I now work with coaches and speak with parents, the consensus is strong that we have a huge challenge with Gen Z’s expectations vs. reality. I also get to hear what that lived experience is like from my Gen Z clients.
We have skyrocketing rates of depression, anxiety, and loneliness. So what do we do? Awareness is a good place to take our frustrations first. Empathy is a great follow up. This generation has different challenges than ever before.

One day the moment you dreamed of shows up - you’re in a championship moment with the game on the line. Sometimes I ask myself how I was ready for it?…Swipe ➡️ for story time. From a young age my dad and brothers helped me engage my mind toward the outcomes I dreamed of. I learned simple stuff over time compounds. Compete! Take your knocks! Challenge yourself! Be creative! Bounce back! Repeat to an obnoxious level of repetition! Enjoy the process! You never know where it can take you!

Take pride in what you do when no one is watching. That’s when greatness is developed.

One of the big challenges for great coaches! It’s never too late to ask yourself if there could be more to life…professionals like myself are trained and equipped for such a time as this. Nothing surprises us, nothing disappoints us, nothing is too messy for us. All we ask for is authenticity!

The beginning of the year used to always be a big push as a college coach. The team returned to campus and spring early morning training started. Then rushing off to connect with colleagues at Convention / recruiting at Winter Escape was next. A few years ago, my time with many of the giants of our industry set the wheels in motion for what became a leap into for me. I recognized we were losing good coaches and or coaches were losing joy/passion due to many of the aspects of the current coaching landscape. College athletics was changing rapidly, and the reality was almost no support for coaches, especially female non-revenue sport coaches. It’s now four years later. This year I got to pop over to convention sheerly for fun, no work! Got moments with old friends, teammates, mentors, and respected opponents. It’s never enough time, but every quick hello and catch up is a reminder of how special it was to have made a career coaching field hockey. It was as unlikely a story as any, and I love that. People took a chance on me, and I got the opportunity to respond to that by throwing my whole heart in to perfecting that craft and hoping to pay it forward in similar ways. That begs the question of how one can leave, especially if they were really all in. When do you stay? When do you go? It’s something I am great at helping coaches process today, since I walked myself through it! I get many questions about life on the outside, and for me it’s been just as amazing, in different ways. The common thread of what has made every season of life significant: the people. Some coaches are pictured here, most are not. Know that I cherish all of you and am one of the few who knows and fully appreciates all you do 🤗
