It's my birthday and I have a 🎁 for you!

If you know me, you won't be surprised to hear that I take my birthday each year as an opportunity to reflect on my life - what I want more, what I want less of, and where I'm headed in the big picture vs. day to day.

This year, I want more conversations - more 1:1 interactions and group gatherings with people with a growth mindset who want to level up.

This year, I want less time working from home alone and staring at a screen all day working.

This year, I'm headed in the direction of positively impacting as many people as possible with my work, and specifically to guide those who really want to create more purpose and success in their careers.

There is little more fulfilling to me than supporting my clients through challenges and guiding them from where they are to where they want to be.

And that's because I am grateful to be doing work I love now, and yet had very little guidance getting here, and so it took me over a decade to achieve.

I believe we all need an objective, knowledgable, caring yet firm guide to help us reach our goals. Life is too full of distractions to do it alone.

In the traditional wheel of life (credit iPEC who trained me), it’s not lost on me that “Career/Profession” is only 1/8 of the total wheel.

What this doesn’t communicate is the IMPACT our career satisfaction has on every other area of life.

Statistically, we spend on average 90,000 hours of our lives working. And in my experience, when you are drained at work, you are drained in life.

Ever think you’re too old to start something new? I just learned that the legendary Robert Mondavi didn’t start his winery until he was in his 50’s! His was the first winery to open in Napa post-Prohibition. It was one of my favorites to visit in Napa too.
I personally didn’t enter my life-changing coach training at until I was 49 and didn’t want to hit 50 without going for my career dreams.

Are you resilient? How would you react if your confidence at work was dealt a devastating blow?

I recently worked with a client who faced this exact challenge. She was unexpectedly placed on a Performance Improvement Plan and had to spend months role-playing and receiving detailed feedback from her boss. Despite the difficult road, she remained humble and determined, willing to try new approaches and persist through setbacks.

And her hard work paid off. Not only was she removed from the PIP, but she was also named top performer on her team for the month of January! Her challenge became a transformative experience that strengthened her character, boosted her confidence, and increased her self-awareness.

We can all learn from her example. Resilience is a critical trait for success in the corporate world and an integral part of personal growth. So, if you’re facing a setback, remember: with grit and determination, you too can overcome any challenge.
