I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!

My fall session at the River Forest Park District ended this week, and I am eternally grateful for the families who enrolled their children in my classes. The session was full with 11 kiddos! I was heartened that so many families wanted to take a music class that celebrates Latin American music and culture in a time when simply speaking Spanish can have federal authorities questioning whether one belongs in this country. Latino culture, just like so many other traditions, is embedded in the fabric of the United States, and it is one reason we are such a rich and beautiful country.

The six-week winter session begins on January 20th. We will be "traveling" to Central American countries like Panama, Costa Rica, and Belize. I hope to see you there!

One aspect about my job that I love is meeting and collaborating with other kid-loving entrepreneurs. I began working with Nadia at Marshmallow Play two years ago. She has a beautiful play center in Elmhurst, and it has been a joy making music and playing with the kiddos and their families who visit there.

I am happy to share that I have completed my studies and am officially a board-certified music therapist! In addition to my early childhood music classes and presentations at Pop-Up Music School, I will be working as a music therapist in schools as well as in the hospital setting.

I love my roles as performer, educator, and therapist equally, and I am particularly grateful for how each role compliments and supports the others.

Pop-Up Music School will be back at the River Forest Park District!

The session runs from February 11th to March 18th at 10am.

My mission at Pop-Up Music School has always been to share the musical traditions of my Latin American heritage. Sadly, this calling feels more urgent because of our current political climate.
