Just back from a fabulous night with and over 100 women at Hummingbird Books in Chestnut Hill MA.

Dr. Hirsch, is the author of the book Unlock Your Menopause Type, and my delightful new partner in women’s health and wellness, at The Collaborative….telemed

She was interviewed (beautifully) by Dr. Alana Franklin ( ) and there were GREAT questions from the women in the audience!

- When to start HRT? (Personally I wish I had started 5 years earlier than I did…)
- When to stop? (Maybe never…)
How to address feeling like a ghost of yourself libido wise? (Too much to unpack here.)
How are mental health and menopause related?
Beyond HRT what other aspects of peri-menopause and menopause should we know about and focus on?

And so many more…it was a very energizing night and I’m thrilled to have finally met my own HRT doc, and now professional colleague, in person!
Also such a treat to meet another new colleague at The Collaborative, and see some old pals!!

Women are hungry for information about our health and we need connection to each other…and that was SO CLEAR tonight!

What would it be like to wake up from surgery only to find that you had had one or more pelvic or re**al exams without your consent while you were asleep and without your prior knowledge or consent?

This is unfortunately a reality in American healthcare. Many medical students are taught to do pelvic exams, re**al exams or prostate exams on anesthetized patients who haven’t given consent. These exams are for the student’s education, and are often not transparent or even recorded in the patient’s chart.

Recent research found that 84% of students had done this across 6 different institutions in 5 different states. This is not a thing of the past as many people want to believe. It is happening now, and together we can work to change it. The crew from At Your Cervix are working on getting laws passed in many states right now, and are working to empower medical students across the U.S. But it takes all of us to stand and say we will not accept this anymore.

I'm thrilled to share that I am joining The Collaborative, Dr. Heather Hirsch's integrative telehealth practice for women, as a Sexual Health & Wellness Coach!

After working with Dr. Hirsch as a patient for my HRT journey, I can personally attest to her wisdom, warmth and expertise as a leader in the menopause and hormonal health sector. She authored Unlocking Your Menopause Type, founded The Menopause Clinic at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and taught at Harvard Medical School...not to mention that yes, she's been on Oprah. Heather is a force of nature.

I am beyond grateful that she has the vision that so many doctors haven't had - to acknowledge that sexual health and wellness matters to women. That's why she's incorporating this resource (me!) into her practice...alongside a therapist, nutritionist, personal trainer, and a journaling coach. And that is just the beginning. She knows that supporting women's health requires an integrative and comprehensive approach.

The documentary film At Your Cervix reveals a concealed practice in medical education where students are sometimes trained to perform pelvic exams on unconscious patients without their consent. I’m still buzzing from the energy and insights from the Simmons 45th Women’s Leadership Conference on April 3. Truly inspiring speakers and so great to see former colleagues and current clients!

I’m incredibly proud to be a Fellow and Executive Coach at The Simmons University Institute for Inclusive Leadership. Congratulations to Kristen Palson and the whole team there…you did an amazing job once again!

I saw talks by Jennifer Hyman (Rent the Runway co-founder), Dr. Magie Cook (Latina entrepreneur and brilliantly resilient woman), and Padma Lakshmi (food writer, actor, and activist).

And then the final keynote was extraordinary…Gloria Steinem and Trevor Noah! What a power duo…both feminists of course. Too many topics and questions to cover here but when asked: What needs to happen to create more gender parity in organizations?

My ONE WORD for 2024 is DANCE! I didn't choose a word because it expressed how an emotion I needed to "work on" like Curiosity or Clarity. I chose a word that reminds me of what brings JOY in my body and my soul...it's an action that I can take.
