Today’s Literacy Coach meeting focused on Part 2 of “Developing Writing in K–8 Classrooms.” Coaches engaged in professional learning centered on sentence formation and structure, while also journaling key ideas and strategies to share with teachers and support classroom implementation. During the second half of the morning, coaches participated in a re-launch of the Roles and Responsibilities of Literacy Coaches. This refresher provided an opportunity to clarify coaching expectations and strengthen alignment across the Instructional Leadership Systems. The work will further support the implementation of Dr. LaTonya Gaines-Montgomery’s coaching and consulting services for administrators and literacy coaches, ensuring a consistent focus on instructional leadership, coaching practices, and improved literacy outcomes for students.

Strengthening Instructional Leadership Across CCSD!

This week, Dr. LaTonya Gaines-Montgomery, Senior Consultant with LGM Coaching and Consulting Services, kicked off professional development and support services for our K-12 schools!

Dr. Gaines-Montgomery’s work with CCSD is made possible through the Accelerator Pilot Grant, written by our Curriculum and Instruction Department. Throughout the school year, she will work alongside administrators and instructional coaches using the Collaborative Framework for Instructional Leadership.

This week, principals, assistant principals, and coaches came together to analyze their Instructional Leadership Systems, explore how those systems are interconnected, and identify ways to strengthen instructional practices across our schools.

We’re excited to see this collaborative work continue throughout the year!
