Treehouse Players After School starts soon. Wednesdays starting at 3:45 pm. October 14 to December 16.

Every child is an artist." — Pablo Picasso

Not every child knows it yet.

Some walk in with their arms crossed and their eyes on the floor. Some whisper when they mean to sing. Some look around the room before they dare to take up space.

And then something happens.

Maybe it is the moment they make the whole room laugh. Maybe it is the first time they hear their own voice fill a space and realize it was always that big. Maybe it is just a Monday afternoon with a box of props and nowhere to be but here.

Slowly, the arms uncross. The whisper becomes a roar. The eyes come up.

Every child is an artist. Some just need someone to show them the stage.

Theater enables kiddos to look someone in the eye when they speak and discover that their opinion is worth sharing out loud. They stop saying "I don't know" and start saying "I think..."

That is what theater does quietly, behind all the costumes and the stories and the songs.

It builds communicators. It builds listeners. It builds children who know how to be in a room with other people and work together.
