When children explore with mirrors, they begin to notice details, make observations, and ask thoughtful questions.
Through mirror play:
-Develop self-awareness and build a positive sense of identity.
-Explore facial expressions and emotions, supporting social-emotional development.
-Strengthen observation skills by looking at objects from different perspectives.
-Build critical thinking as they investigate reflections, symmetry, and light.
-Expand language by describing what they see and sharing their discoveries.
-Inspire creativity by using reflections in art, block play, and loose parts invitations.
At The Morton Academy, we believe even the simplest materials can lead to the biggest discoveries. Because when children are encouraged to look closely, they don’t just see a reflection. They begin to see themselves as capable, curious learners. 💛
