Getting ready to Kick A$$

For the stringed, fretted instruments in my quiver, I’ve rediscovered- and most importantly- defined two functioning centers in which to map out harmony (progressions) and melody (including modes). More obvious of the keyboard, more occultic on a fretboard. But it’s there nonetheless and it makes creating music, on-the-spot, more attainable.

1 OCTOBER 2021: Names for the rudiments I love using when playing the drum kit:
Singles
Doubles
Triplets (Mohler)
More than triples (4s, 5s, 6s etc) as much as can be allowed while maximizing looseness and serpentine movements.
Paradiddles: : Roof top- the way medium to heavy rain falls on a gimbal roof.
Para paradiddles: Barn roof: the way medium to heavy rain falls on a barn style roof.
Para diddlediddle: Half pipe. The sticks move up and down and sway side to side like a skateboarder in a half pipe. Think of the herta herta strokes.

In biological cell science there is a structural connection between certain types of cells called desmosomes or “intracellular” bridges. These connect each cell to another thus forming specific tissues. Skin or outer organ coverings are prime examples (epithelial). In the mind of an artist, this same “intracellular bridging” occurs as well, albeit most manifestations of the aforementioned happen by spark or inspiration. When this occurs, humanity comes to life in the most enjoyable way! So, what does this have to do with music and , specifically, musical instrument playing? Well, seemingly unrelated elements can sometimes inspire and flood into other endeavors where a certain action can immediately affect positively in another realm. Examples such as slamming a heavy bag with speed, power, snap, and combinations leads to destroying a would be attacker. Or Ranger School training and how effectively a light infantrymen gains in lethality.
By intelligently using the above pictured, not so much to solve the puzzle, but rather to over train certain muscles, the musician can vastly improve dexterity, speed, and strength when applied to scale work and, alas, Musical Playing, any chosen particular instrument. More to come!
