We were so shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden passing of our friend Bryan Lyons, earlier this week. A kind and generous man (and a great dentist). We will hold wonderful memories of Brian and Rick Hoyt in our hearts. This photo is of Bryan and Rick at our first Mother's Day Run.

Hello All.
We are sorry to let you know that Nancy and Don will not be organizing a Mother's Day Run/ Walk this year. This decision was not easily reached and there are many factors. The biggest issue is our health. Nancy had complex and extensive back surgery three weeks ago and her recovery time will be measured in months. Don needs a knee replacement. We can't commit the effort to do the race in a manner which would make us proud.
We are so grateful for the support of our 350+ participants, 62 volunteers and generous sponsors. We had great support from the Town of Chelmsford. Sue Rosa and her team at the Board of Health helped us to understand Opioid Addiction and through Healthy Chelmsford spent the almost $30000 which we raised in a manner to achieve maximum benefit for educating our kids. The Chelmsford Police, Lt Spence, had our back from the start, getting us the team of regular and auxiliary officers which made our race safe for all. And Chelmsford Fire, Chief Gary Ryan, and his team, always participated in a visible and meaningful manner.
The Chelmsford Elks Lodge adopted the event in the second year and provided resources, most of the volunteers, kept stringent financial controls of the funds and supported in countless other ways. Finally the race would not have existed without the support of the Greater Lowell Road Runners. From our first meeting with Dave Camire and Jessica Costa, to all of the sage advise along the way, and finally to the sea of Green and Yellow shirts at each event.
Thank you all!

No better time of year to express our gratitude to the Chelmsford Elks Lodge, the Greater Lowell Road Runners, our generous sponsors and many friends for supporting our 2018 Mother's Day Race. Here we are presenting the $9000 proceeds to Healthy Chelmsford to educate local kids about Drug Awareness. In the picture are: Warren Daniels Trustee Chairman, Don Patch Drug Awareness Chair, Nancy Patch, Race Director, Sue Rosa, Director of Chelmsford Board of Health, and Kerry Sorrentino Health Educator. We missed Ron Fuller, Exalted Ruler and Amanda Wright-Glaser.

Nancy and I have supported this race for years. We ran the first one and have participated or volunteered in most. This year, the organizers are funding Opioid Awareness with the proceeds. So important. Shirt cut-off is August 23, and the shirts are always well done. Please consider supporting this fun and meaningful event.

Nancy and I have decided to walk in the Chelmsford 4th of July parade again this year. Last minute? Yes, but with good reason. Nancy has had some serious back issues since May and had a shot on Friday and is feeling better. I have not run since the Claddagh 4 miler, after which my knee blew up, but I can finally walk two miles. It is a fun event. If you would like to join us, you are welcome. We have a few volunteer shirts available. Let us know and we can provide details.

Nancy's Mother's Day 5K makes great strides for Opioid Awareness!! Only two days to go! Thanks to Joe Ericksen for arranging for the sign. Weather looks great! 60+ volunteers are ready to keep you safe, fed and entertained! We will have an early number pick up at the Elks, at the Pavilion, on Saturday from 1:00 to 3:00 pm if that makes race day easier for you! See you Sunday!

We are so grateful to our sponsors who enable us to offer such interesting raffle prizes. Root Robotics won 4 awards at the Consumer Electronics show, including child’s product of the year! A robot which a kindergarten kid can program but has capabilities to challenge a college student. Draws, erases, hears, sees, climbs a whiteboard, etc. so new that first production arrives in July!
Our friends at iRobot generously provided a Roomba 890. You aren’t still pushing a vacuum, are you?
Mickey Ward strikes a blow for Healthy Choices with autographed boxing gloves.
And Tom Derderian provides his classic book about the Boston Marathon, a wonderful Mother’s Day souvenir!
Feeling lucky?

Have a Mother's Day to remember! Our Mother's Day Run Walk is about two things. Showing our runners and walkers a great time with really nice "tech shirts"in neon green, lots of quality awards (Libbey Coffee Mugs) a Super DJ, fun food and beverages and more surprises. Also about raising awareness and educating kids about the horrible epidemic of opioids. Every kid needs to be prepared for that conversation that they will have. Join us and do something meaningful on Mother's Day!
