Venus, Mars, and Earth: A Planetary Warning Written Across the Solar System

The solar system holds cautionary tales etched into the histories of our planetary neighbors. Venus, once perhaps more hospitable, became the ultimate greenhouse victim. Sitting a little too close to the Sun, Venus’s thick carbon dioxide atmosphere trapped heat with brutal efficiency, raising surface temperatures to a scorching 460°C (860°F). The planet is now a baking oven proof of what happens when runaway climate change spirals out of control.

Mars tells a different but equally sobering story. Early Mars likely boasted rivers and seas, but then disaster struck: the Red Planet lost its global magnetic field. Without that shield, solar winds relentlessly battered Mars, stripping away most of its atmosphere.
