Good morning, VCS families!
Hopefully by now you have heard about our Ugandan Water Project for Thanksgiving 2024! Please find our original post below from 2018 about the first time we did this project!
Please take time to read and watch about the Ugandan Water Project and how we have a direct link to this incredible opportunity! Oli &Tamale are Veritas Chattanooga students! This Thanksgiving our offering at the Thanksgiving service will benefit The Ugandan Water Project (change, cash, or checks made out to The Ugandan Water Project). The students are excited!
From Katie Conrad:
The thing I love about how we got connected with the Ugandan Water Project is that it all started with Veritas. Sam was working on his project last year for Mrs. Currie(5/6 Grade) on Uganda, and he had to pick two humanitarian organizations that were helping in Uganda in some way. We found the Ugandan Water Project through that, and I wondered if they would be willing to drill a well in Oli and Tamale's(Veritas Chattanooga students) village in Uganda. So I emailed them, and they responded back so quickly and enthusiastically. They did all the leg work that had to be done before we could actually campaign for it. We're trying to raise $12K, and we have close to $4K. Right now the kids and youth in our church are saving their money for it, and our church is going to match up to $2500. The kids have been so excited about this. When all the kids heard that children in Uganda have to walk over a mile just to get to a water source, then wait in line for an hour because everyone else is getting water too, then they have to walk home with 40 pounds of water, then find sticks to make a fire, then it would take an hour or two to boil the water, and then three hours to cool before they could drink it, the kids were all so eager to help Oli and Tamale's village! It's been so cute!
There are close to 20 million people who don't have access to clean water, and it's the leading contributor to death. This is an easy and tangible way to make a difference in the lives of so many!
I'm excited for our school to do this and not just because it's for my kids! It's just so easy for our kids to be entitled and not think of anyone else. This opens up their world to see that there are so many hurting people who need our help. It's an opportunity for them to love like Jesus.
I'll do whatever to help!
Thanks for being willing to do this!
Katie
