UTC student media made a great showing at the Golden Press Awards on Wednesday evening in Knoxville.
Megan Cooper won first place in podcasting; Sydney Banks won first in Sports Reporting; Clara Paulson won first in Photojournalism; and Delaney Holman, Ryan Conley, Malcolm Key, and Kayelyn McCaslin won second as a team in best news story with a story on Engel Stadium and Chattanooga baseball.
Thanks to the East Tennessee Chapter of the Society for Professional Journalists for hosting this event, and also thanks to the San Diego SPJ chapter for judging the entries and their glowing comments on the work of our student journalists!

It is a very exciting day for student media at UTC, with NASCAR visiting campus! Cup driver Austin Cindric and Talladega Superspeedway region President Josh Harris were in town to promote the upcoming Jack Links 500.
Austin and Josh were interviewed by University Echo Sports Editor Zoie Denton with the help of the the Mocs News student broadcast team.

Tonight, the Communication Department held its 10th Photo Night showcase event. It was a day of workshops and instruction followed by an evening celebrating visual storytelling by UTC students and acclaimed professionals. This event is one of the highlights of the year for our department, and a chance for our student to learn and shine. Congratulations to everyone for making this such a special day!

As we prepare for the Fall 2025 UTC graduation this weekend, Communication Major Matt McAllister reflects on his time at UTC.
Matt spent the fall 2025 semester as a student writer in the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Division of Communications and Marketing, for his internship to complete his bachelor’s degree in communication.

Comm alumna Rainey Randolph ‘25 was recently promoted to News Producer for WDEF-TV 12 in Chattanooga.
In this role, Rainey produces the CBS affiliate’s 5:30 and 6 p.m. newscasts, keeping Chattanoogans up to date and informed. Congrats to Rainey for this promotion. You’re making the Communication Department and all of UTC proud!
