Hosting the Marian Anderson String Quartet in residence at UTC, Nov. 5 - 7, 2025. Composition workshop, visiting other classes, high school visit, concert including some of my music and maybe a student work also!

UTC Music will once again host the Unheard-of//Ensemble on March 21, 2022. They will read through new works by composition students, and perform in a unique concert that evening that advocates for mental health agencies. Included on the program will be new music by Jonathan B McNair based on poetry by Jane Kenyon, plus a Spoken Word artist.

On June 21, 2021, Make Music Chattanooga will present "Flowerpot Music," an open, participatory event for any interested person to make music in a group using flowerpots as instruments. I will lead this, and have used flowerpots many times since 1983. Mallets will be provided. Location: Coolidge Park, downtown Chattanooga, near the stage.
Time: 7:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Afterwards, hang out for the Summer Solstice Jam.

The Holmberg Professor of American Music and UTC Music Division, and Chattanooga State Community College will co-host the Unheard//Of Ensemble March 15-17, 2021. UTC Composition students will compose new works for this awesome group to rehearse and perform in a reading session for students. UTC Composition professor Jonathan McNair will have a new work performed by Unheard//Of during this residency.
