We named ourselves after three things we love: East Lake, Language, and Arts. We're a community arts organization in East Lake, Chattanooga, TN.

ELLA: East Lake Language & Arts. We're a place where people can connect, make, and learn in our neighborhood. Talk to us about culture, arts, language, inclusive creative communities, and East Lake. (And printmaking!)

Learning to read opens the door to every child’s future. How would you like to be the one to unlock that door? You do not need any prior experience or training—just a passion for supporting children as they learn to read!

As an integral member of Chattanooga 2.0’s AmeriCorps program, you will tutor Hamilton County Schools K-2 students in a one-on-one setting each day with a straightforward curriculum and weekly on-the-job training. This evidence-based approach—developed by Literacy First and refined in collaboration with students, parents, tutors, teachers, and partners—has enabled thousands of students to learn to read since 1994. You could be the key to setting nearly 20 children on the path to lifelong literacy!
