The second round is now open!

3. Complete the HCVS Commitment Form
This form will be sent after the meeting is attended.

🎉 Student Spotlight of the Week: Meet Finlay! 🎉

This week, we are thrilled to shine a spotlight on Finlay, one of our wonderful elementary school students!

⭐ We love hearing how our students are thriving at HCVS!
Here is what Finlay has to say about their experience:
“I have a hard time focusing on classes at times, but virtual school helps me tackle those issues with its flexible scheduling and stay-at-home learning with actual classmates and teachers to connect and learn with, without feeling stressed or pressured.”

📖 Favorite Class: Language Arts! Finlay loves to read and write
and is always quick to answer questions and stay active in class.

☀️ A Day in the Life: Starts around 9:00, working hard on Pearson and IXL. Essential tools? Notebook, pencils, computer, and, of course, Airpods for focus music! 🎧

🤝 Staying Connected: While learning from home, Finlay never misses a social event or field trip and has plenty of friends to guide and have fun with!

We are excited to share this week’s HCVS Student Spotlight!
Join us in celebrating one of our long-time students, Roman!

⭐Roman has been thriving at HCVS since kindergarten and truly loves the unique flexibility our learning environment provides. One of the highlights for Roman is the chance to incorporate hands-on learning right into his school day.

His teachers are amazing at helping him "stretch" himself, especially in the subjects he naturally enjoys, by sending extra assignments and games that keep him challenged and engaged!

Here is what Roman had to say about his experience:

“I enjoy virtual school because I get to do my work anytime during the day. I can take breaks when I need to and I get to eat whatever I want to. I love being at home with my mom and dog during the day”.

Get to know Roman's journey:

📐 Favorite Class: Math! Roman loves the complexities of math and is very competitive with his peers. This challenge helps him deeply understand each lesson and stay ahead of the curve!

☀️ Daily Life: Starts his day with chores, then jumps into classes around 9:30 AM. He loves the daily Teams calls with his teacher and classmates and uses IXL to sharpen his skills and earn extra points. He finishes his school day with lunch and physical education! His daily must-haves: Chromebook, pencil, art supplies, and subject folders.

💬 Family: “We have had a very positive experience with HCVS. We were initially concerned that Roman would miss out on interacting with his peers but that is not the case. Every year, the social interaction and in-person opportunities have increased and Roman takes advantage of as many of these as he can. The teachers and entire staff have been great at supporting Roman throughout his time in HCVS and have made this an outstanding place for him to thrive.”

🔹 All students in tested courses in Grades 6–12 must bring their fully charged HCS-issued Chromebook

🔹 All tests are required and must be taken in person
