💙 Learning Through Service, Changing Lives Along the Way ✨
The Mocs Wellness Initiative is creating meaningful opportunities for students across Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Public Health to learn through service and connection.
By providing free wellness support while working directly with the community, students gain hands-on experience that goes beyond the classroom. At the same time, they’re building relationships, developing valuable skills, and making a real difference in the lives of others. 🤍

Future OTs, Meet Their Tiny Teachers! 👶🌟
OT students recently had the opportunity to bring classroom learning to life through hands-on experiences exploring infant development with babies and families. Working alongside Dr. Kozell in their MOP-Pediatrics course, students explored developmental milestones, sensory regulation, engagement, and the impact of meaningful interactions through play and observation.
Experiential learning opportunities like these help build clinical reasoning, strengthen confidence, and create meaningful connections as students prepare to become future occupational therapy practitioners 🤍

🌿 8,000 acres. 3 counties. 100 miles of mountain plateau to protect. 🌿
Alex Garretson built a GIS mapping tool that helps Lula Lake Land Trust figure out exactly where to focus their conservation efforts on Lookout Mountain – balancing habitat protection with outdoor recreation development for the community.
The work earned her the Best Spatial Analysis Award from the TN Geographic Information Council, and she's just getting started. 🏆
Hands-on work. Lasting impact. This is how UTC students help serve our communities 🌎

Learning through service 🔧🚲
UTC DPT Physical Therapy students traded lecture notes for tools and turned their lab into a workshop – assembling adaptive tricycles for children with disabilities in our community in partnership with Scenic City Trykes (families receive these at zero cost).
“We are involved in our education in a way that is different from textbook learning. It really helps us have a role in the community and see the difference we’re making with children everywhere. It’s really special.” – Anna Qualey, UTC DPT student
Real learning. Real impact. Right here in Chattanooga 💙💛
