Audition submissions due Sunday!

Chattanooga State Repertory Theatre (CSRT), Chatt State’s professional theatre company, is pleased to announce auditions for TINY BEAUTIFUL THINGS, based on the book by Cheryl Strayed, adapted for the stage by Nia Vardalos, Co-conceived by Marshall Heyman, Thomas Kail, and Nia Vardalos.

Seeking 4 actors to fill the following roles:

- Sugar: This character is based on the real person Cheryl Strayed. Preferably seeking a female presenting performer in the approximate age range of 35-55, but age is flexible - the character should give a warm, open, and vulnerable energy. Open to all ethnicities.

- 3 Letter Writers: these three characters represent all of the authors who wrote to the advice column “Dear Sugar.” These 3 roles are open to all ages, gender identities, and ethnicities. For the letter writers, preference may be given to Chatt State theatre/PATP alumni when appropriate.

This play is based on a true story and contains some heavy content that may be triggering, and we recommend reading the play (a pdf can be found online) prior to auditioning.

This is a paid non-equity casting call.

AUDITION INSTRUCTIONS: The first round of auditions will be video submissions. Please submit 2 contrasting contemporary monologues - one comedic and one dramatic to Jennifer Wilson at [email protected] no later than 11:59pm on Sunday, April 28.
Any necessary callbacks will be held on Sunday, May 5 at 2:00pm.

REHEARSALS: There will be one table read in May. Regular rehearsals will be June 3-June 20. Tech begins June 23.

PERFORMANCES: June 28-30

Formed in 2018 by two brothers and their best friend, the Sequatchie River Band began life as a haphazard acoustic jam trio. Over the years, they have added a third brother and another close friend, and refined their sound, while maintaining a diverse repertoire of classic rock, folk, country, blues, and sacred music covers, with a contemporary spin. Several originals have been produced in the process, in a variety of styles. The band also develops music appreciation curriculum for their homeschool community, and provides specific instrument instruction as well. Recently, the members have crafted an alter ego, Interval, to distinguish their indie/alt-rock side. 🎸

This smash Off-Broadway hit takes you to the 1958 Springfield High School prom, where we meet Betty Jean, Cindy Lou, Missy, and Suzy: four girls with hopes and dreams as big as their crinoline skirts! As we learn about their lives and loves, the girls serenade us with classic ‘50s hits including “Lollipop,” “Dream Lover,” “Stupid Cupid,” and “Lipstick on Your Collar.” In Act II, the Wonderettes reunite to take the stage and perform at their ten-year reunion. We learn about the highs and lows the girls have experienced in the past decade and are charmed to find that no matter what life throws their way, they will conquer it together. Featuring over 30 classic ’50s and ’60s hits, The Marvelous Wonderettes will keep you smiling in this must-take musical trip down memory lane!
Tickets for The Marvelous Wonderettes are on sale through Chattanooga State online at www.chattanoogastate.edu/theatre and must be purchased in advance. Performances are February 2-4 with the dinner beginning at 6:00pm. Tickets are $15 and include dinner and the show. 🎭
