Family Nurse Practitioner program at one of the nation’s highest-ranking graduate nursing programs. Go Mocs! The last MSN cohort will start in May 2021.

This is a hybrid program (part online and part in-person):

The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Program is transitioning from the Masters in Nursing (MSN) to the Doctor of Nurse Practice (DNP) degree offering. Pending UTC approval, our first DNP cohort will start in August 2022. The DNP FNP program is 8 semesters (2.5 years) full-time study. Currently, the admission criteria are the same as the MS

Our FNP faculty had a great week at the 49th annual NONPF conference in Orlando Florida and the UT San Antonio culturally inclusive conference. We shared our knowledge with other universities and learned from many FNP colleagues across the nation!

We often brag about our program, but it's hard not to do so! For 2022, our Family Nurse Practitioner graduates had a 100% first time pass rate. That incredible statistic is due to the foundation that our professors and clinical preceptors lay.

Why should you choose UTC's Family Nurse Practitioner Program?

📚 Students who complete one of our Nurse Practitioner Concentrations at UTC traditionally score above the national average on their certification examination.

🩺 Our students go through clinical programs at the same time as their course studies. We find that this reinforces class work best.

👨‍⚕️ The final family nurse practitioner practicum allows immersion in the role as an FNP

🏥 Chattanooga and the surrounding counties provide the student with a wide variety of clinical settings for preceptorship, both private and public, preparing the student for any practice setting.

One of the highlights of our program is the mix of in-person and online work. We find that this hybrid program allows our students to experience the best of both worlds. Students are able to meet with and learn from their cohorts and professors without needing to be on-campus multiple times a week.

Tell you more about our program? We'd love to!

👨‍⚕️The Doctor of Nursing Practice, Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Concentration is an eight-semester program. The BSN to DNP program consists of 83 credit hours and 1,050 clinical hours over 2.5 years.

🩺Coursework with preceptorships in Adult, Women, and Pediatric Primary Care prepares students for the national certification exam offered by either the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP).
