Families and friends, please see photos from our African American Heritage Night last month! It was a wonderful time celebrating our school staff, families, and students.
The theme of the night was the “history and legacy of HBCUs.” One of our own staff members, Keosha Brewster, put together a skit featuring a few of our 4th and 5th graders in order to demonstrate the importance of HBCUs and why they continue to hold significance today. Even our own staff members who attended HBCUs had an opportunity to share how their college experience gave them a sense of belonging and shaped their futures.
We were honored to hear from Dr. Stewart about his experience attending an HBCU, Alabama State. Go Hornets!
Thank you to everyone who attended and made this night special!

Last week, our Wildcats experienced a powerful example of Community, Caring, and Growth as we continued celebrating Black History Month in meaningful ways across our school.
In addition to sharing daily Black History facts on the morning announcements and preparing for a special Zoom session with Grammy-nominated composer Shawn Okpebholo for our 4th and 5th graders, we were excited to add a new experience for our students.
Ms. Brewster, Ms. Johnson, Mrs. Staton, and Mrs. Morris partnered with Urban Initiative and Jamal Morris to host a focused meet-and-greet for our 3rd–5th grade Black male students. College students from University of Tennessee at Chattanooga shared their personal journeys, spoke honestly about decision-making and everyday conflicts, and encouraged our boys to think about how today’s choices impact their futures.
Students engaged in thoughtful dialogue, participated in a reflective writing activity, and made personal commitments toward their goals. It was a powerful reminder that when we come together as a community and lead with care, we create opportunities for meaningful growth. 💛🖤

⭐️Happy 100th Day of School!⭐️
There were some “100 year olds” found in Kindergarten today!
Our Kindergarten students celebrated 100 days of school by dressing up and learning how to count to 100! They have grown so much during this first year of school, and we are so proud of them.
Thank you, Kindergarten team, for all your dedication to nurture and lead these students. Thank you, parents, for your support and involvement in their learning! Let’s finish this year strong!
