What a wonderful way to start Spring Break. We had donuts, muffins, coffee, and juice with the people whom we love with all our hearts. While we fellowshipped, we got the chance to show them that we've been creating and how we've been growing wiser through creativity in art this school year.

Marie Van Brittan Brown was an American nurse, innovator, and visionary whose dedication to personal safety sparked a revolution in home security technology. During a time of rising crime in the 1960s, Marie refused to be a passive victim. Instead, she turned her fear into action, creating a groundbreaking system that laid the foundation for the modern video surveillance technologies used worldwide today.
As a nurse working long, unpredictable hours, and with her husband, Albert Brown, working as an electronics technician, Marie often found herself home alone, feeling vulnerable. Confronted with slow police response times in her neighborhood, she decided to take safety into her own hands. In 1966, alongside her husband, Marie devised a "Home Security System Utilizing Television Surveillance." Her ingenuity was ahead of its time, featuring a sliding camera, closed-circuit television (CCTV), two-way microphone and remote lock & panic button.
