Field Customs

Being iced in and trying to not use machines that require a lot of power or could cause damage to fi****ms if the power went out while in use has made for an interesting week. We’ve done some major organizing and set up a little photo both corner to capture the finished work…. If I remember to do it before giving back to customers 😵‍💫

We still have power, if you need a warm place and a hot cup of coffee, feel free to swing by but only if you can get here safely!

Exercise caution when selecting a gunsmith for fi****ms work. This rifle was brought in with a previously threaded barrel that had been done by another shop. The customer reported issues with the round impacting the muzzle device and requested an inspection prior to mounting a suppressor. Upon evaluation, it appeared that the threads had been cut using a die rather than on a lathe, resulting in threads that were not concentric to the bore.

To correct the issue, we removed the existing threads, rethreaded the barrel to 5/8-24 specifications, and applied a new crown. The front sight was then repositioned, requiring drilling and tapping before being remounted.
